Bay Area Report

The Bay area is NOT football country. They could be preseason number 1 in the polls, and there still wouldn't be much discussion there. The Bay area just doesn't have rabid college football fans. All the rabid football fans deck themselves out in silver and black and act like criminals at the Raider games on Sundays.
Then there must be no fans out here. The Raiders are running commercials out here begging people to buy tickets.

I am not sure that an unwillingness to watch this particular Raider team (with the exception of R. Moss) makes you not a football fan. I heard today that they signed Jeff George who has not been in the league since being cut by Washington in 2001.

I actually thought it was a joke when I first heard that tonight. That's a true exhibition of desperation with your QB situation!

Wonder how many Cal players will be deep down wishing they played for the VOLS after Sat night.

Hmmm... lets see, get overshadowed by a tree mascot story - or play in front of 108,000 fans in one of the meccas of college football.

One of the San Francisco papers had one paragraph on Cal Football today. They did have a lengthy story on Steve Spurrier.

California is nothing but a bunch of Band Wagon people. Obviously Southern Cali is worse as everyone is running around w/ USC stuff, but the Bay Area is too busy trying to save the trees, get ALL guns band from the city of San Fran and trying to decide what kind of half-caf, soy substitute flavored iced coffee to get while hanging out in their Hybrid cars... OK kinda had to let loose a bit.. Sorry.

But all in all having grown up in the Bay Area football is not a big deal, especially college football.

I was out there in 1968 in the navy four years on the carrier Oriskany. It is still that way today football wise the fans take a game as a social event but back then Cal was the pac ten door mat A west coast Vandy.
