Baylor vs Texas

It was the conference formed by the Texas schools and Arkansas, and lasted up until 1995 or so.

A lot of those stories you hear about texas, A&M, SMU (and its death penalty), TCU, etc, were from that period in time. It big enough that it would likely have also been a BCS conference had it lasted until 1998.

It was also rampant with cheating, corruption, etc, amongst the schools. That's what eventually led to it folding.

After that happened the Big 8 reached out and offered membership to 4 of the schools (Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, and Baylor - which went out of its way, supposedly going behind people's backs - to make sure TCU nor SMU got that last invitation) and became the Big 12 and Arkansas moved to the SEC.

Not the reason.

There's not two teams available that bring in enough revenue to make it worthwhile.

They'd just be serving the same pie but every team getting a smaller piece rather than how they have it now (which is that each team gets a larger piece - per school - than the other BCS conferences because, while it's a 10 team conference, they're still splitting a TV contract the base numbers of which were designed around paying for 12 teams).

Being 2 short is the reason. Agree with there not being a strong two, though.

You guys should probably hope mack stays, or they hire a Dooley.

Wish they would hang on to him but that ship has sailed. Maybe they'll screw the pooch with a McWilliams/Makovick type hire.
