I think it's a long shot after the loss to LSU, but just to be optimistic, do you think we have a chance at one of the major bowls? The way its looking now, ALOT of things will have to happen to the teams in front of us.

no. it would involve a nearly impossible series of events that happen in precisely the right way for UT to make it to a BCS game. Even a 1 loss UT team would have been on the outside looking in.

No. There was little chance of us making it in even if we ran the table. At this point, we're probably shooting for a New Year's Day bowl.

Do yourself a favor and get this notion out of you head.

Not unless they invoke a ND rule for TN saying that if we finish in the top 15 in the BCS and only lose 2 SEC games than we get an at large bid. ANd my answer is no.

That rule sounds pretty groovy though.

In past seasons, I would have said no in a heartbeat too. However, this is the first season with 10 spots in the BCS bowls, so we'll see if a 2-loss team can get in as an at-large this year.

I've seen several bowl predictions showing a 2-loss LSU team in the BCS.

Already, it looks like the ACC will have a 2-loss team, and if Texas loses again, the BigXII will be represented be a team with at least 2-losses.

Southern Cal plays Cal and Notre Dame, so the probability is high that 2 of those will have 2-losses.

If Auburn stubs its toe against Alabama, LSU will be in the SECCG. Arkansas will lose to both Tennessee and LSU. LSU wins the tie-breaker if there is a 3-way tie in the East.

There is still alot of football left. So who knows? But typically the way the Vols have been snubbed even when they are 10-2 (see 2003).... I think the Vols could end up in a lower tiered bowl again.

this weekends loser likely determines the cotton bowl sec rep....the vols would finish with 3 losses and get the cotton, or the hogs drop the next two games with ut/lsu and finish with 3 losses. the team with 2 losses would head to florida for outback/citrus.

College Football News had us projected to go to the Cotton Bowl and play Oklahoma. Would be a nice match-up. I would rather see that than to see us go to the Citrus/Outback and play Wisconsin or Iowa.

i must admit a little bias for the cotton...living in the dfw area gives me a chance to see the vols in action....weather can be fickle...i sat on a sheet of ice watching us get abused by kansas st and two years ago we torched tex a/m under cloudy skies and balmy 65 degrees.
