Must have took them 5 or 10 mins.

Premiere Sports Management in Overland Park, Kan., was hired to help come up with a name and brand the new system.

Right now it's a 4 team playoff. I just wonder how long it will take before that starts getting expanded. I imagine it will double to 8 teams within 10 years and eventually expand to 16.

No way they will do 16.......that's too many games. Risk of Injury is to high, and the teams would be worn out by time they got to the final four. Plus not to mention all the extra practices they would get. It wouldn't be fair to the other teams.

In all honesty, I think 4 is the perfect number to do playoffs in football.

Don't know who will win the final BCS Championship but Tennessee will always be remembered for winning the first.

Would like to see 6 teams. 5 conference champs + one at large.

Except that's also having the kids play almost a full NFL schedule (or more in some teams' cases), not to mention if playoff games were to continue to take the holiday break they usually do (not starting the games until the week after New Years), the National Championship risks being pushed into the Super Bowl, which is an issue neither side (NFL or college) would want to happen

FCS has a longer playoff and they seems to do just fine.

They're also FCS...

and also their longer season is only a game more than an FBS national champ who played in a conference championship game; this setup would have teams playing around a 17 game season

Seems like those actually in charge feel a bit different

In that economic climate, it’s easy to see why a number of FCS teams are contemplating a move up to the top classification. With no playoff bracket, players get to function more like regular students — taking exams and going home for needed rest around the holidays. And, again, the money is better for the institution.

“We are NOT considering the health and welfare of the student-athletes, who are having to spend at least one month of playing 4-5 more games — which is permanently damaging their bodies – and hurting their academics,” O’Day says. “This is not fair to them – nor their coaches. This is where all of us are selfish, and want the playoff system vs. a bowl. At the FBS level, there is a month off to recover bodies, take care of academics and finals, and at the end, a reward of a bowl and some fun — and the schools don’t lose money like we do at the FCS level.”
