Rutgers and Arkansas should be ahead of USC

As bad as it pains me, if USC wins out over Cal and Notre Dame, I think they should face the OSU/Michigan winner.

Florida was so underimpressive last week that I almost count that as half a loss in my ranking.

Arkansas, though obviously much improved, falls under my own personal blow-out rule, which states that if, at any time during the season, you are getting your a$$ handed to you by 5 touchdowns, you are not worthy of a national title. Cal and Notre Dame also fall under this rule.

And as ugly as it sounds, if USC falls, I actually think rematching USU and Michigan might be the right thing to do.

Rutgers is, well, Rutgers, and therefore banned from serious national title discussion.

Pending how things shake out, they still have a shot.

I already put out the line of logic I see coming from east coast media. We were all ready to put the winner of UofL/WVU in the national title game, right? Well, Rutgers made it through the same conference undefeated beating both teams. Why shouldn't they get the shot?

Plus the underdog story would be HUGE.

The underdog story would not compare to the rematch story (plus ratings) that would be associated with a Michigan-Tosu rematch. Also, the loser of the Mich.-Tosu game will still be above Rutgers in the computer polls and will most likely stay above Rutgers in the coaches poll. The media has no shake in it and I seriously doubt the Harris poll would place Rutgers above the loser.

A win over WVU is going to get them a lot of run, with coaches and computers alike.

Yeah, USC can still beat Cal, Notre Dame and UCLA. But let's not forget... They're still playing Cal, Notre Dame and UCLA.

And I've got a sneaking suspicion there won't be any one-loss teams in the SEC.

Rutgers would absolutley get killed. Part of me wants them to get creamed by West V, but part of me wants them to play the likes of Ohio State or Michigan.

Just to show them and all these talking heads that would go to bed with anything Rutgers Football that they might be the Big East winner but they don't have what it takes to be a big boy yet.

If Rutgers played Michigan Ray Rice would get 40 yards, maybe.

The best thing for Rutgers and Boise State would be for them to both win out and hope they get matched up with each other in a BCS bowl, so they wouldn't get creamed by a Texas, Florida, Ohio State, or Michigan.

Or Arkansas?

Yeah the new polls in my opinion are terrible. USC lost 2 weeks ago to an unranked team and they are 3rd? ND is way overrated. The only ranked teams they have played are Michigan and Georgia Tech. Rutgers? Honestly...

It matters more who you beat than who you lost to. Using losses as the measuring stick, then really, you're saying we want the team who failed the least to play for the NC.

And remember USC pasted your Hogs.

They're better than Rutgers and if both go undefeated it looks like Rutgers would have more of a shot which I totally disagree with.

Rutgers is already ranked #2 in the computer polls. This is absolute proof that the computer polls are an abomination. However, since Rutgers is already ranked #2 in the computer polls I don't think they really have much ability to move up in the BCS. If Arkansas wins out, they will jump right over Rutgers in the BCS even if Rutgers were to go undefeated.

The USC beating Ark argument as an argument against a PAC-10 favoring lost all cred when 1-loss Cal was ahead of 1-loss TN. So if Cal can jump an SEC team it got thrashed by, why cant an SEC team jump a PAC-10 team it got thrashed by?

I was unaware that a 1 loss Cal team was chosen for the BCS title game over a 1 loss UT team...
