The NCAA tournament this year reminds me of why the BCS system is still used to crown a National Champ.

I was about to make a post like this. The BCS has flaws for sure, but just throwing everyone into a giant free for all isn't the best way to go, either.

Except a football playoff wouldn't have way too many teams.

An 8,9, or 10 team playoff would be unbelievable. Anything larger than that would take away from the regular season which is what makes college football so good.

I'd be satisfied with a 4 team. I think that would be the perfect compromise.

I agree. I think the intriguing thing to me would be the possibilities of matchups in the 1st round. I am also in favor of the first round games being held at home sites, not neutral. If the tournament games weren't held at home sites then I would be against an 8 + team playoff.

I could do 8 but I'd be afraid they'd jump to 16. Which they would.

Give us a Football Final Four. Put it on a t-shirt.

Put me in the camp for an eight team playoff. Plenty of great matchups, conference championships (could) mean something, and the tournament is small enough where the winner can still be considered the best.

Look at the rankings from the last few years and tell me how frequently there was a team ranking in the 5-8 range that was as deserving as the schools that actually got to play in the NC. 8 is just too many.

What, you don't think Arkansas was NC material last year?

Arkansas should be excluded from all national collegiate championships as UA barely qualifies as a school and the state more closely resembles a third world country than it does the United States.

Think about if we had a BCS-style championship for basketball... It would have been Ohio State and Kansas tonight. Yuck.

It was hard for me to watch these two teams play and believe they were the best two teams in the country. I know they won the games in front of them, really, the best two teams?

So, one bad game and the system isn't that great? Sorry, but the NCAA Tournament is by far the most entertaining event in the sports landscape today. At worst, you aren't subjected to a month and a half long wait to watch two rusty teams stumble around for a half. At best, the tournament provides the best thing going during that first weekend with multiple storylines and entriguing matchups and endings.

Plus, if you are thinking Butler being in the title game last night demonstrates a weakness, don't forget how great a title game last year was. Just because the final throws out a dud in the end every once in a while doesn't mean the tournament doesn't crap all over the BCS.

It blows BCS out the box, it at least would of given TCU a shot and Boise the yr before.
