This isn't even official and all you really need to do in WBB is recruit the best players.

I bet a lesbian could recruit extremely well for WBB.
Bad news for UT.

Apparently she has been able to teach grown men who are already professional athletes and they listen to her, respect her knowledge, and benefit from it.

Seems to me that if she has something to teach grown men who already play professionally, that she might have something to bring to young women in college. But that's just me.
UHMM You do realize those are PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES and the are in the NBA for a reason do you??? Not that much you can show them if they've made it to the NBA besides just breaking down plays from previous games prepping them for upcoming games. LOL. These are girls fresh out of high school and you may have majority of them that will probably never even play in the WNBA or overseas. So much more you have to teach these aren't professional athletes we're talking about. In the NBA you can pay for the talent you want and college you have to compete and recruit against over 100 other schools. I think she will be great but don't just crown her already just because she is an assistant in the NBA that means nothing and when you don't have to make the final decisions. Iv'e spoken with Avery Johnson of Alabama basketball and he even told me its harder to coach college athletes. Kinda crazy to me to compare NBA PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES to college students. LOL

UHMM, she DOES actually teach the players:

Exerpts:
She has long been accepted as a member of Gregg Popovich’s staff, and she is very comfortable with her role as an assistant. That the Spurs trust Hammon with their young players is a testament to her ability as a teacher.

“It’s all about getting our guys better and seeing the big picture,” she said. “It’s about getting ready for the regular season, developing our players, and that’s a big part of the role I have. I’m pleased with what we did here this week.”

Bad news for UT.

I thought that a lot of the beef with Geno was based on allegations that UConn negatively recruited UTK by telling girls parents that their daughters would be lesbianized if they went to Knoxville. Seems like people are saying it hurts us either way. I don't get it.

Its common sense. What you are not getting is that those are PROFESSIONALS in the NBA. Don't you think its easier to teach and train people who has been in their field for years now even the young guys who are in the NBA period. Hell most of them should be better than her THEY ARE IN THE NBA. College athletes require more of your time and its a little more harder. Whats so hard to understand about that. Haven't you played sports before. NBA PLAYERS ARE NO COMPARISON TO COLLEGE BASKETBALL.

Let's see how she does her first 3 years at UF if she does in fact take the job. She may be a fabulous coach, but that doesn't guarantee that she'll be a great recruiter at the collegiate level. Don't be so quick to crown someone before they prove their worth.

Well many in the FF think Gruden would be up there with Saban as a college coach

I don't pretend to pay attention, but an open lesbian coach in women's basketball?

I'd expect them to clean house in recruiting.

Because most WBB are lesbians anyway.

You should change your nickname to SaranWrap, 'cause I've never seen a more transparent effort to push people's buttons than what you're in the process of doing.

Fortunately, most people here are grown-ups. The reality of lesbians playing/coaching basketball isn't quite as titillating to us as you may have hoped. Sorry.

She has potential but the collegiate level is a little tougher in my opinion.

Uh, no. There's a reason so many "elite" college coaches (Calipari, Pitino, Tarkanian, etc) leave for the pros, fail miserably, and decide to come back to the college game...

The Vanderbilt head coach is a Lesbian, and I highly doubt she will ever have any top rated recruiting classes.

That would definitely be a home run hire for Florida as Hammon has won a summer league championship with the San Antonio Spurs and can sell possible recruits on a WNBA career.

Why is it that because a woman isn't interested (just speaking categorically) in going to bed with you that she is somehow less worthy of doing a particular job? I'm fascinated by the hatred of a subgroup of men toward another subgroup of women who identify as lesbians. Why the hell do you care what they do on their own time? How does it affect you?

I truly don't get why someone's sexual orientation --or their gender --has anything whatsoever to do with their job performance. I mean, there's what you do at home in your bedroom, and there's what you do from 9-5. Where is the carryover?

Like most of us, I drag my ass out of bed way too early every morning and go to work. I don't give a rat's patootie what my coworkers do on their own time, and why should I?

I want excellence in coaching at UT, in all sports. I will happily support any coach who demands and produces the best out of his/her players. What they do in their own time, as long as it isn't illegal and brings shame on UT --think the exaggeratedly heterosexual Lane Kiffen --is completely irrelevant to my opinion of their roles as coaches.
