I think he finally has the scheme/staff continuity and weapons to thrive like he did on the HS level (State Champs, going against some of the best teams in SC).

Granted, he may not be the ideal scheme fit for this offense, but if McElroy and McCarron can be successful game managers on the college level, I suspect Worley can, too. He seemed to excel when surrounded by talent...and he now has that. So, here's to hoping he gets the hot hand like he had at Northwestern HS.

We have to remember: Worley had two years under Dooley. Before he got hurt, he was getting better under Butch and co. Dooley had two NFL QBs on his roster and still lost to KY.

Reports from camp and practice have been very exciting regarding Worley's development, arm strength, accuracy. He actually has game breakers on both sides of the football now and in the backfield.

I think Butch naming him the starter is huge for his confidence. As the Florida game demonstrated last year, he was never "the guy" (until the Florida game, and that's when he started to get better).

If he goes out against USU and has a great game, gets that "lights-on" confidence, I think we are going to surprise a team as an underdog this year.

Worley has the talent. I think he is going to surprise people this year if the OL gives him a chance.

If they start to struggle, we will likely see a lot of 2 TE sets, which isn't a bad option. It can frustrate a lot of defenses...if you have the TE's that can hurt them blocking and pass-catching.

We didn't have that last year.

The question is if they do start to struggle does CBJ rely more on the run game?

Worley is going to win the freaking hiesman trophy and we are going 11-1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarcasm, I've predicted 5-7 with all three QBS playing before the season is over. Hope I'm wrong

BTW McCarron was a big time recruit out of high school not just some scrub QB turned game manager he did much more than that.

No, he wasn't. I remember. There were several QB's rated ahead of him, nationally. He was a 4*, but so was Phillip Sims:

Worley was a 3* but had better HS stats than McCarron and won the National Gatorade player of the year. Not an easy accomplishment. McCarron had no such state or national award.

Some of us have said all along that Worley had talent and potential. I don't know how it will turn out because (like the coaching staff) he still has to prove he can perform on gameday... but I'm glad some folks are coming around.

He's never lacked talent. He hasn't been surrounded by talent most of his career at UT. He's lacked confidence in his receivers and probably himself. But he's a smart guy, good decision maker, better athlete than given credit for, and can throw the ball. Contrary to popular opinion... what he appears to be right now is almost IDEAL for what Jones wants from his QB... It is what Jones appears to be recruiting in kids like Dormady.

FWIW, I think I read an article that said that Dormady had never had a run in HSFB... does it really sound like Jones is only looking for running QB's??

Oh also Worley ran a spread in HS. I can remember the concerns some had because it had been so long since he took a snap under center.

And all of that means what when you step on campus? Nothing!

I think you're labeling McCarron as a game manager to try to fit your argument. His Jr. & Sr. years combined he threw for 6000 yards, 58 TDs, and 10 Ints. If that's a "game manager" then I'd take one of those every year.

Worley got labeled a "game manager" last year simply because he didn't throw an Int in the UGA and S. Carolina games.

The guy is steady Freddy man. Nothing gets him down. Nothing stops him. You can not break him. He is steady as a rock. Think about ALL that young man has seen. Others would have quit.

I've been hard on Worley too, but he clearly has all the tools if he can just put it together. I like that he has command of the offense. That'll help him out a bunch. I think he's very underrated in the SEC, and will be the sole reason we exceed expectations from the national media.

Reports from camp were so positive that many were clamoring for Peterman to take the job.

Peterman.

I have confidence that this coaching staff will put in place some packages in case the O line can't gel early. Quick outs, slants, draws, etc. We have TE's who can catch, plus RB's also that can catch out of the backfield. T 'um up boys!

Are you kidding? Compare McCarrons and worleys offer list. If Worley was so great how come SC or Clemson didn't offer him when he was in their back yard? Say what you want but McCarron is a far better QB than Worley and its not even close. Also he is far from the game manager that you labeled him as.
