remember that Pearl's first recruiting effort at UT consisted of losing Tyler Smith and Jamont Gordon and bringing in Ryan Childress.

I realize Coach Zo is in a tough spot this year. I'll be more interested in how he recruits next year.

Pearl did however have a Chris Lofton, CJ Watson, and JaJuan Smith. They helped provide enough wins to slingshot the Tennessee program for Bruce in his first year. I don't see that happening for our coach this year, recruiting might be very sluggish for a while.

Great point hat. Tireless recruiting efforts and the resources UT has should keep us in contention in the SEC under Martin. Pearl brought in Childress his first year and was bringing in his type of systematic talent soon after. I'm thinking Martin will probably land a couple of top notch guys next season.

Anyone who is questioning who CCM is bringing in this late in the game is just not looking at the poor position he took this job under. He had no relationships with 4 and 5 star kids as they were not coming to MS. Most of the top kids already had a top 5-10 and the Vols were not in there. Add that with the unknowing NCAA stuff coming...and of course top talent is looking elsewhere. We will have to deal with the NCAA stuff, CCM will have to show he can compete in the SEC(even if it is with subpar talent) and then kids will start to look at UT again.

Go Vols!

At the same time, there was only one of Childress. Seems like a point in the '05 class's favor to me.

Either real basketball minds don't exist in the Big Orange Country or I am blind. First his pedigree is NBA! secondly behind the video of a big slow guard is what I think is a real game changer. If you notice in the video he isn't afraid to fight and battle to get to the basket and he has decent hops. I bet in a close game he will take it to the hole make a layup and get fouled. Big strong guards are hard to come by and yeah I know you all want 10 sec hundred for a point guard. He looks like a baller. GBO!

Who and what are you talking about. I must be on the wrong page; I thought we just signed a 6'9" Nigerian with very little experience and questionable skills. I don't see how that translates to the big slow guard you are referencing.

It would help if Martin could snag a couple of highly-rated recruits by next Fall to provide a boost, like when Pearl got Chism and Crews. I think people really took notice when those guys committed before their senior seasons started.
