Behold the official new "SEC on ABC" theme song.

I intensely dislike this song. It's timid, middling, utterly forgettable. A callback to a older theme song that wasn't even that memorable to begin with.

I understand that it can't be the SEC on CBS music, but it needed - NEEDED - to have that same level of character. It needed to be bold and brash. Bassline and drums. ENERGY. Not whatever late-90s sports video game menu music this thing is.

Yeah that's bad.

If that is going to be the opening then it stinks. This stuff gets more soft every year with these folks trying to get cute.

I refuse to listen and watch. Disgusting not to put long time SEC team. OU and especially Texas go back to the Big 12 where you belong.

If you listen to it closely, it comes off as a blend between the old CBS theme and the old ESPN CFB Theme:

The problem is that it takes in the weaker/softer parts of the theme and not the high energy parts so it does sound like (as people are pointing out) more like a soap opera theme than a CFB theme.

Agree . . . unimpressive.

I've been watching a few of these on YouTube . . . .

I think the way they did these in the 1980s was just about perfect . . . even Musburger.

These were my high school years. NBA at its finest. That brought back great memories. Thanks.

Nah this ain't it. The CBS theme was worth have to suffer Gary.

Not just the theme, but the way CBS valued the SEC and played a part with their excellent telecasts in the rise of the conference over the last 25 years.

I said at the end of last season when people here were celebrating the end of Danielson that we might be yearning for him by mid-season if it meant bringing back the CBS production of conference games. The SEC is just more product to ESPN to fill air time, and we will be sick and tired of them sooner than later, but sadly we're stuck with them for a looooooong time.

Oh, and about that awful theme - is it me, or were Texas and Florida the two primary schools featured? I saw one fleeting UT clip, a little Alabama and Georgia, and a whole lot of Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma, including a Tim Tebow highlight! Do these people even pay attention to the SEC?
