This will probably get moved to the recruiting forum, but I thought is warranted being here because of the seriousness. Has anyone noticed that Saban's raiding the state of Tennessee in recruiting? To me that's a serious sign.

I understand the implication, and agree that it can't be good, but I would say that the thrashing he gave the Vols this year is all we need to know about Saban.

In other words, while it is a given that he is going to recruit superior athletes, he has already proven (twice) he can beat CPF with "back up" talent.

Saban tried to steal recruits away from Fulmer last year right before signing day.

Saban is a :censored:.

We just have to hope that Bama loses as much as possible over the next couple of years, losing never helps a coach recruit.

Your point is being proven by what happened at Cal, Bama, and UF this year and our current recruiting.

I expect negative recruiting to hurt the Vols this year. Even our own fans hate their coach.

Local press and columns melting down doesn't help. National press picking up on it hurts us to.

Sadly, that is 100% true.

We're completely marked as a program on the decline...
The team has been on the verge of a complete collapse all year...
Local and national media have had nothing but criticism for the team, enough to where former players have had to speak up, and that creates a huge vibe of unprofessionalism here...

What 17-18 year old would want to come here to go through that?

who knows what the future may bring. we win out, go to atlanta and win, all will be well. we lose one or both of the next two games and this program is in meltdown. I also think that if we go to atlanta and get blown out by lsu that we're headed for more suffering.

I wouldn't worry about the Jones kid from Memphis. He grew up a Bama fan, attending all their games etc.. I would be upset if Saban pulled off the coup of pulling Aaron Douglas away from us (I heard he is making a hugh push on him).

it's mid november. i have 3 months before i have to seriously worry about recruiting.

and hell, apparently we've had all these great recruiting classes the past few years, and it hasn't mattered anyway, so why all the worry?

Matthew 6:25-34

Do Not Worry

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

2 things you can always count on in recruiting.

1. SomeTennessee kids ALWAYS leave.
2. UT never has a good class early.

Will we bounce back as usual this year? Who knows but to say that Saban is raiding us is silly. There are ALWAYS kids who leave Tennessee to go to bammer. They have done it for every coach that has ever coached in bammer. (exept Price :))

Obviously you missed my point...I was speaking on the way they handled their coaching situation before Saban...they were the laughing stock of all media and radio outlets...

Both things mentioned are true as well as that it seems we never have as good of a recruiting year after an excellent one. And I would rate lasts years class pretty high up there.

Agreed. Jones going to Bama sucks, but his Dad is a Bama grad and how well has UT ever recruited in Memphis?

And last year's class was/is full of athletes. Look at the WRs and DBs from that class. Hell, the RBs will be good too, UT got a FB in Cooper and a pretty good back in Creer, Vereen has potential.

This class will be nothing but big OL and DLs with a Rod Wilkes or two sprinkled in.

Or you can take the chicken little approach, whatever makes you feel better.

It just kills me to see Tennessee kids cross the border to play for Bama. You know...anybody but bama.

Once again truisms are taken as gospel on this board.
Now, I know the history of Logan young's check writing in Memphis but that was years ago. The FACT is that for the 6 recruiting classes from 2002-2007 Bama got 5 kids out of Tennessee. That's less than one per year on average. Of those five the only "elite" prospect was 4* DE Alex Watkins (2007) who committed to Shula and was convinced to hold true by Saban. This year Saban already has two of the best players in the state (Hightower and Jones) and it looks like it's between him and Tuberville for Jordan from BA. That means three of the state's five best players (*-rating wise) may be suiting up for the Tide next year. That is a major shift in the landscape of the past 8 years.

please dont try to convince people around here by using facts, you'll just confuse everybody.
