Belmont almost pulled off a big one....

Belmont is a well coached team and Byrd is an excellent coach. Not going to say they are a super power, but I sure am not going to knock them either. They are quite capable of knocking anyone in the country off on any given night. Byrd impressed me enough that I would have given him a serious look as our next head coach. His teams are well disciplined on both defense and offense and of course there are no stars on his teams. Just a bunch of roll players playing the game as it's supposed to be played, as a team, and giving all they got to give.

Just my opinion, but I personally don't want anymore "One and Dones" here at Tennessee. Let'em all got to Kentucky, until Cal runs that program into the ground and moves on. "One and Dones" have hurt NCAA Basketball.

Anyone who thought Duke should have killed Belmont, needs to watch more basketball. Duke is not the team of several years ago. College basketball has been in a trend of parity for awhile now. Last year's Duke team got smoked by Zona in the tourney. That team is and will be better than the finished product of this year's team. Quit listening to morons in the media and the poll voters. Watch alot of a great college hoops and form your own opinion!

If you think Belmont and Duke are on the same level, I don't know what to tell you.

Duke should have beaten Belmont by 10-14 points. I consider killing another team like 16 plus. Duke was up the entire game, they just couldn't convert offensively at the end and committed an uncharacteristic 19 TO's. Coach K will quickly correct those mistakes. Duke had Belmont under control the entire game. Belmont gave Duke a serious challenge, but Duke will improve more than Belmont throughout the course of the year because they have much better players.

So we were better than them by an average of 5 points last year. After our roster turnover, do you want to GUARANTEE a 1 point victory this year?

I refuse to give Belmont any undue credit. Their best games always seem to be losses. They are a far cry from what Butler has been. Sure, they could upset a better team and they might dominate their conference, but they are still just another pretty good mid-major. They are nothing to fear.

I'm doing the "Belmont's a superpower compared to a team that went 7-24 last year" argument.

No, you're doing the "let's make excuses for why Duke nearly was beaten by a team that they're vastly more talented at every single position" argument.

Once again, we're not at the point where we can assume victories against pretty good mid-majors.
