The kid has had it tough. Very small growing up, no playing time due to growth, shut down by the doctors. As hard as that must have been, it's a blessing now. Think about this, a pitcher throws what, 1,600 pitches a year? If you started doing that every year between Junior in HS thru Junior in college that is 8,000 pitches...plus the bullpens which would have to be another 5,000 - 8,000. In total, 13,000 - 16,000 pitches on those arms. That's a lot man. There's only so many bullets in those arms.
Joyce does not have that on his arm....
Proof that everyone has a different path.
Also, as for not many appearances. Well, our starters have been going 6-7 innings. We have deep pitching, the relievers and closers aren't getting much action...yet. It's a long season. Knock on wood, but we're in pretty darn good shape right now. Plus, Coach V is proving to be a genius. He respects Joyce, being safe with his comeback, wants him there in the end, and wants to help his draft stock.
