Never too late to right a wrong!!!! This explains why.

“Bernard King. Bernard King. Bernard King,” said Dominique Wilkins. “I’ve been saying that for years. Bernard King. There should be no debate about it. Bernard King should be in the Hall of Fame.

“I don’t understand why he isn’t there yet. I tell you, I never feared anybody that I ever played against, but I lived in fear of him. The guy was a machine. You could not guard him 1-on-1. You can ask any of the greats of that era. You could not guard him 1-on-1. It was impossible.”

Vote him in now please.

I remember when I was a young lad and White Men Can't Jump came out and they mentioned Bernard in the movie. I was the only one in the theatre that screamed out "Yeaaaaaaaah".

I would really like to understand why he isn't already in. Does anyone know the reasoning?

1) Short prime "allegedly".

2) Never won anything (what a farce).

3) Coke problem

He was IN THE ZONE!!

He was in the ZONE many times, here is another one 69% shooting in back to back 50pt games!!!

He was unbelievable," Dallas Maverick forward Mark Aguirre mumbled, eyes glazed. "Unstoppable. To score 50 back-to-back on the road, that's a roll. He is on a roll. Rolling. Rolling. Rolling."

Bernard King of the New York Knicks indeed was on a roll last week. Playing at San Antonio on the night of Jan. 31, he scored 50 points as the Knicks beat the Spurs 117-113. The next evening in Dallas he deposited another 50—many of them against Aguirre, who fouled out in the fourth quarter of New York's 105-98 victory. If Aguirre's dazed testimony didn't sum up King's remarkable feat, try this on for size: The last NBA player to score 50 or more points on consecutive nights was Wilt Chamberlain, who did it in February 1964 for the San Francisco Warriors. The last player to score 50 or more in back-to-back games was Rick Barry, then also of the Warriors, who accomplished it in February 1967.

King, a 6'7" forward who's in his seventh NBA season after a stellar college career at Tennessee, converted 40 of 58 shots from the field (69%) during his two 50-point games

He is still the single best pure scorer I've ever seen. Including everybody.

Best player in the history of the SEC.

Truth. He was 5-1 in his career against Kentucky; and the Cats were good in the mid-70's when King was at UT.

When younger Vol fans come on here and post threads about their all-time favorite Vols, mentioning the likes of Chris Lofton, Wayne Chism and the like without even a passing mention of King, I just laugh.

The thing that made King such an incredible scorer was his lightning-quick release. It was going to the goal before the defender could get his hands up.

Bernard King, after having a coke problem and a torn knee IN THE 1980'S NONETHELESS averaged 28 points and shot 47% from the field at 34 YEARS OLD. For example, Carmelo Anthony never has shot 47% from the field in his career.

Don't see the need to compare those two... Bernard was phenomenal and Carmelo is a freakish player with unbelievable quickness for his size. I can appreciate both great players without having to criticize either one
