Besides Neyland

I have not been to a game at The Shoe, but I have been inside it while I lived in Columbus(just sucked up to some guards and told them I was a life long buckeye fan finally living in Columbus). The stadium is really cool looking on the outside, very historic feeling to it. As much as I HATE the buckeyes, their campus is really nice. Stadium is right by the river, with a really nice view of the basketball arena on the other side. Campus is HUGE, main part is probably 5 times larger than UT, and about 10 times bigger if you count total acres for both schools.

I had some usce fans at 2009 game that were absolute jerks sitting near me. The guy huffed and puffed everytime the PA announced Eric Berry, he cussed at a little kid. He was a horrible person and I am glad his team lost that day.

I have heard columbia's pre-game is actually pretty neat to experience.

Alllllll aboard.... The cock a Boose!!

From my 3 years in UGA's Redcoat Band I had the opportunity to go to many different venues.

1. Neyland Stadium - Tennessee - Due to my obvious bias, our trip to Knoxville was the best experience/stadium by far. The fact that UT destroyed UGA just solidified Neyland as #1.

2. Sanford Stadium - UGA - Spend many a long day in this venue. Athens is just a great college town. The campus is always beautiful and the stadium is a good place to watch a game. Again, a bias probably moves this up the list a bit.

3. Boone T. Pickens - Oklahoma State - I was there for the first game of the new stadium and it was wonderful. The horseshoe shape, with the student center at the "open" end traps a lot of noise in for such a small stadium.

4. Colorado Stadium - Colorado - The campus in Boulder is gorgeous. Located at the foot of the mountains, it was enjoyable just walking to the stadium. The actual stadium is okay, but the environment is wonderful.

5. Jordan-Hare Stadium - Auburn - A stadium/campus/experience that was very similar to UGA. The campus was very pretty as was the stadium. The fans were the nicest away team fans that I had experienced in Redcoats. My final trip to JHS was tainted a little due to the whole Nick Fairley/UGA spats.

6. Jacksonville Jags Stadium - GA/FLA game - The stadium itself is nice but nothing special. A typical pro-style stadium. The uniqueness of Red and Blue being split 50/50 down the center of the stadium is a sight to see in person.

7. Bobby Dodd - GaTech - Again, probably due to bias against Tech this is a little low but BDS just wasn't that great of a place. Doesn't seat a lot of fans, they pipe music from around the stadium too much and the little brother syndrome of the fans gets annoying.

8. Williams-Brice - USCjr - I really hated my trips into this dump. The stadium is dirty, the environment of the stadium is in an awful place. The fans are nice enough and the stadium can get loud but the atmosphere was way below par. And the stadium looks like a dead cockroach.

When UGA scored on UT, did you play their fight song in a lazy fashion?

When UGA scored on UT, did you play their fight song in a lazy fashion?

That's a really good question. That would be tough if your allegiance is to UT but you "work" for the enemy. Did you sneak a few bars of Rocky Top in the UGA fight song?

Anyone know the story behind the UGA Hedges? I'm sure they were first, but UT had them too at one point. What's the big deal?

Well I did a Wiki search, so who knows if it is true. But it says they got inspiration from the roses around the Rose Bowl, and since GA climate was not condusive for roses they went with hedges. In 1996 they were removed because of the olympics, but newer shorter hedges were added after.

So I am not really sure what is the beal deal, other than they were the first to have them in the SEC.

UGA's innaugural game after the hedges were planted was with Yale. All 9 southern guvnahs' were in attendace. It was a pretty big deal at the time.
