that team had some names on it.. Charles Davis, Reggie Cobb, Keith Delong, Alvin Harper.. so my question is why the heck is Dale Jones on the cover I was 12 and though I was watching football I didn't follow that hard and know most of those guys from the NFL and in the case of Charles Davis ESPN. I really got into football during the Kelley years which was a couple years later.

Dale Jones was one of the best players on the field. He brought the pain when he sacked the quarterback, or tackled the running back. He also intercepted a pass against Alabama that helped Tennessee break a losing streak against them.

Thought OP knew about my trip to Romania after my last Iraq deployment in 2005..

That being said, program guide looks mint. Great find! I'm surprised it survived this long in Bamaland and isn't wallpaper in some Bama hovel.

Dale Jones's Alabama interception in 1985 is legendary in that SEC Championship year and truly epic at the time. He had a monster year. Lots of memorable names associated with the SugarVols. So, it was not surprising to see Dale Jones on the cover of the 1986 Football guide.

Not sure what my kids are going to do at some point with my collection of Tennessee Football Guides which goes back to when I started school in 1970.

As a youngster, my buddies and I sold programs at Neyland in the late 70s and early 80s. I can’t remember the prices anymore, but I think they were more expensive than $2 in 81. Just curious if $2 is accurate from 86 - not trying to be a cynic. Oh wait, I see it is what was paid at the collectible store - darn good deal.

Paid $2 today for at Collectibles store today. The book doesn’t have 1 cress in it and all the pages are in tact with no damage.

If the picture of the stadium on the back was fairly current, Thompson Boling Arena was under construction—pretty much underneath the photographer.
