The problem with those fleeing bad governed states, they bring their damn voting habits with them . . . just look at Nashville now versus 20 years ago, it's starting to look more like New York and LA with all of the rise in crime and homeless people roaming the streets.

Problem being those moving are going to ruin those cities and states too.

I think deep down some of them might suspect it (i.e., maybe ultra-high taxes, certain building codes, and preventing builders from building more homes in certain areas contributes to the particularly insane cost of living in SF). SF would still be an expensive place to live regardless, but I think it would go to merely expensive as opposed to "laugh out loud" expensive if those things were different.

But people really don't want to admit that things they don't like are caused by things that they advocate for. Nobody wants to see themselves as part of the problem.

Also The Triangle in North Carolina is great. It consists of Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill. You have 3 big schools in such close proximity. Tar Heels, Duke and State. Basketball is insane.

lived in Triangle 5 years and agree it's great. also enjoyed living in Charlotte area and Huntsville, AL

That’s definitely overstepping Fayetteville. 95% of the reason it sucks is that you can’t escape Ft Bragg from Sanford until at least Lumberton. It’s the only thing going. Most other military towns can at least escape the military aura inside the city.

That’s not to prop up Fayetteville, but as long as you stay away from the black listed streets, you’re not in that much danger. And who could hate on Sharkys?

dont get all giddy about the rose bowl. there's a reason most 100k stadiums have two levels. Rose Bowl is very flat and lines of sight is virtually in the back of someone's head. When you get to the back of the stadium you feel closer to San Diego than the endzone. Imagine the Bristol game but one one level

That and it’s the damn hottest spot in the Eastern part of the country. Lumberton is a fine town though. Hopefully they’ll put in a casino one day right smack dab on the side of 95.

On the plus side, you are guaranteed at least half decent weather from 6:30 am to 7:30 am every Mon-Fri. God doesn't let the Ft Bragg Soldier take a day off from PT. The Bragg Weather Bubble is very, very real.

My Dad was in the 18th Airborne during the mid 70’s . He’s got some stories about the craziness that was Ft. Bragg back in those days and always talks about how miserable it was during the summer months. Also, a I used to work with a guy in Raleigh and was formerly an SF guy, he’d have the craziest women show up at work randomly. Never a dull moment with that guy.

SF guys are all over the map. I know what we were doing in the early ‘10s and was continually how tame we were compared to the past. And that blows my mind

@RDU VOL#14 those were two different thoughts, my bad. SF Dude's are crazy. And they're all crazy completely differently.

But the stories of Bragg are insane. We thought we were wild, but compared to old stories, we were choir angels

My dad was there when Frank Lucas was running all the heroin and stuff through Pope and he said the amount of drugs in Fayetteville was nuts.

I would vote for the Denver/Boulder (Colorado University) area. My daughter lives near Denver. We went for a visit summer of 19 and fell in love with the area. Great weather, first day of summer with temps in the 70's and low humidity. Multiple things to do around Denver if you are into the outdoors. Yes, Colorado is a blue state but they have not went full Cali, NY yet. I thought I would never find a place I could see myself living in beside my neck of the woods around SE Tn, Western NC, North Ga but I could see myself living in Colorado.
