An earlier discussion got me pondering this subject. Since many of our members have spent considerable time in establishments that serve adult beverages, I want to see who the Best Bartender in Knoxville History is, according to our expert panel. Fire away with your choices.

Well, it's been a while since I've really done it up right in Knox but I'll start.

JV and Scott at Calhoun's (Slusher for looks, love a readhead)

Deana Carter at Toddy's (with Barry and Mike behind her)

Kevin at Ivory's

I'm sure I'll remember more later

You hit on a good point. We might have to divide the category and have a "Best" and a "Hottest."

Yeah, wasn't sure if it was only girls but I took a shot.

Plus I got to put friends at the top of the list. :p

What is the Roman Room? Is that underneath the Copper Cellar?
No, it was next to the Copper Cellar. That spot is now occupied by the evil corporate dogs known as McAllister's.

What you're thinking about is the "actual" Copper Cellar. Upstairs is technically the Cumberland Grill.

I haven't lived in Knoxville (or visited enough) since 1990.

When I was in school there I typically went to:

Hobos
Vic and Bills (formerly the Place)
Copper Cellar (cheap Margarita night)
Whatever the damn Fern bar was (an 80's disaster)
Pickle U Pub
Longbranch
Bundulees
Old College Inn
Tap Room
Casa Guiardos(sp?) - Why Nots?

After college (86-90) went to Old Town (Manhattan's etc.), Chesapeake's, the train station place at the World's Fair Site, Toddy's, La Paz, etc.

In other words, I don't remember any bartenders in particular but any that served me are tops in my book :w00t:

I don't know about service, but for scenery, the brunette bartender that we talked about in the other thread gets my vote.

The last time I ran into Tanya she was working at Hannah's in the Old City.

Did you live in Knoxville for a time after school, or is it just a football season thing?

I lived, at least part time, in Knoxville for the better part of nine years after I completed law school.

I lived there from Dec. '99-Jan '03 and then April '04-Jan '06.

When did you make the move to NY/South Beach?

Do you know the Wests?

I moved to New York last July. I've been in South Florida since March.

I know Scott and Bernadette casually. I woudn't characterize us as friends. We know each other and speak when we're in the same place.

I am generally happy with any bartender that doesn't try to put water or coke in my bourbon.

Having lived in KY for a while, I have developed an affinity for Makers Mark, mostly because of the genious of Bill Samuels. That guy could market donkey meat.

Makers is quality stuff. Actually, I have no problems with any of the "name" bourbons. I draw the line at Colonel Lee and Old Grandad. Those are certain to induce ulcers if consumed in any susbstantial quantity.
