Two questions;
One is Turene still solid to USC after everything that has went down there? I believe he committed after the NCAA came down on them but still the distance and the negative recruiting has to have him second guessing that commitment.

Second how in the heck is a prospect like Turene not rated higher by Rivals with a who's who list of major colleges offering him?

We are not in play for Kelvin Benjamin at all.

Blakely & Grooms , neither. I dont think we've had a stitch of contact with Grooms since early Summer.

Think you are right about Benjamin and Blakely. Last week Rivals had UT first and second respectively on their schools of interest, but I have read nothing that would back that up. That said, Dooley and staff have enough top skill position (WR and DB) prospects interested to get the job done there. Would be nice to have a full stable of top RBs.

I take back what I said above on Blakely. Had not seen the quote from Blakely that Lord Vader posted earlier.

Blakely is down to two top schools. Auburn and UF.

He's visiting UF this weekend for LSU game, and he had visited AUburn for the So. carolina game...

Not sure if you saw in the Grooms thread where I was told by my FSU ppl that he has some "shady Handlers"

Not sure if thats the reason, but it def. turned FSU off completely. they were his number 1 for almost his entire Jr yr and goign into the summer, but then he went up there to camp/visit and came away with the Noles losing interest.

From what I have read...

DE Xzavier Dickson 4* - Most interested in Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. He scored a 15 or 17 (depending on where you look) on his ACT so not sure he has got the grades.

DT Mickey Johnson 4* - We should get him.
DT Maurice Couch 3-4* - JUCO visiting both USCs but Tennessee moving up on his list

OL Antonio Richardson 4* - Stud from Nashville so I guess we have as good a chance as anyone.

SS Geraldo Orta 3* - We should get him.
CB Kadetrix Marcus 3-4* - He attended UT camp this summer, but has visited Clemson and USF as well. I guess we are still in the hunt.
DB Blake Countess 4* - Named to Army All American team. He is high on GTU, but attended UT camp this summer.
? Kevin Grooms 4* - Actually I was wondering if he is being recruited by schools as RB or DB and what he position he prefers?
S Avery Walls 4* - Scheduled to visit CAL, MICH, and ORE.
S Wayne Lyons 4* - Not sure if he has any interest in Vols. Is/wants to visit(ing) ND, NEB, UCLA and camped at FLA and ND.
DB Malcolm Mitchell 4* - Top schools are FLA, Georgia, and Alabama

TE Jay Rome 5* - It's either ALA or UGA for this kid
TE Cameron Clear 4* - In state kid considering playing both football and basketball with focus on football. I was kinda wondering if most schools plan on moving him to OT since he has nice size and only runs a 4.95.

LB Lamar Dawson 4* - Top schools are FLA, USC, and ORE

WR DeAnthony Arnett 4* - Mich State Univ just about has this kid locked down.
WR Devin Clark 3* - He visited USF. I don't really know a whole lot other than that.
WR Kevin Benjamin - ?

RB Andrew Buie 3-4* - Hasn't narrowed anything down. Wants to visit UNC of all schools.
RB Mike Blakely 4* - I've read it is down to Auburn, FLA, and South Carolina but you never know

A couple of names not mentioned on the original post that are real possibilities are 3* Ahmad Christain(ATH) and Ronnie Harris(DB).

I know this thread was titled "Best Case Scenario" I think "Realistic Case Scenario" would be..
Mickey Johnson
Maurice Couch
Antonio Richardson
Geraldo Orta
Cameron Clear
Ahmad Christain
Ronnie Harris

Clemson is in Rome's top 4, but according to a Scout article dated September 29th, Georgia and Ala have jumped ahead

Good to know about Buie

I have read more positive info on some of your debunks. Hoping for the best. No doubt we are in a very strong position with remaining skilled players (DBs and WRs). No shortage of prospects in those positions showing strong interest in Tennessee. Wish Richardson would go ahead and commit. That might set the tone for reeling in the rest.

Like you, I am hoping for the best. I guess it really depends on where you get your information from since it seems most reports on prospects vary until the day they commit. I think a win over Georgia this week would go a long way since most of the prospects on our wish list have offers from Georgia and some consider UGA to be high on their list. A little turmoil in Athens with a MR firing would be awesome.

What are your thoughts on a Georgia loss to Tennessee? Would MR be done for?

Frankly, surprised Richt has lasted this long. UGA is probablly waiting till they have a pretty good beat on a replacement, one that fits the profile they want... which leads us to the worst case recruiting scenario: Dooley bolts to follow in his daddy's footsteps.

I wish people would stop typing this nonsense. HE DOESNT WANT TO FOLLOW DADDYS FOOTSTEPS :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

This is a perfect (within reason) finish in my mind:

WR: Arnett, Dallas
OL: Richardson, Clear
DT: Wright, Johnson
DE: Williams
LB: Paul
DB: Marcus, Thomas, Loften (qualified)

I would be beyond happy with that class

You seem to have been paying pretty careful attention. I would guess that 2 or more of those are in the Silent category.

Just a guess...but...

Definitely Dallas...maybe Wright...almost definitely Thomas...and Williams

As top prospects continue to commit to other schools and fall off the UT recruiting board, it is getting little too late to keep saying, “It’s still early.” Personally, I’m too old to have the patience for a multi-year, maybe decades-long, rebuilding process. I still want to see a top ranked recruiting class this year to add to this year’s talented freshmen, most of which are already getting allot of playing time. I believe a highly ranked recruiting is still very feasible, if Dooley can somehow gain the confidence of the best players still considering UT. (Not that the final seconds of the LSU game helped his case.) If we can believe what we read on the ESPN, Rivals, and Scout websites, this appears to be our best case recruiting scenario remaining for 2011 in order of need:

2 DTs – Mickey Johnson and JUCO Maurice Couch (Must sign these guys.)
1 OL – Antonio Richardson (Adding Richardson gives UT as good a class of linemen as any program will sign.)
3 DBs – Geraldo Orta, Kadetrix Marcus, Blake Countess, Kevin Grooms, Avery Walls, Wayne Lyons, or Malcolm Mitchell (No shortage of great safeties out there leaving cornerback Blake Countess as the most needed of this list.)
1 TE – Jay Rome or Cameron Clear
1 LB – Lamar Dawson (Thought about making it Lamar Dawson or Gionni Paul, but I did say “best case scenario.”)
1 WR - DeAnthony Arnett, Devin Clarke, or Kevin Benjamin
1 RB – Andrew Buie or Mike Blakely
1 DE – Xzavier Dickson

Can Dooley pull this off (or something very close this)?

There is plenty missing here...

What about GA recruits Crowell and Wright? TN recruits King and Thomas? Also plenty more out-of-staters we are after.

It's not a done deal for a while... we are still recruiting hard and we will land some gold.

Dooley and staff can do plenty of damage between now and National Signing Day.

Wright, Drew and Crowell all would have to be a part of a best case scenario. Not a realistic case, but definitely a best case.
