I agree. I've been mad as a hornet all year at the fact that we've had 3 BIG WR's on our roster....all of them 4* recruits and we only play one of them regularly. Sure the whole WR corps is young, but how does that preclude us from using that overwhelming size advantage?I agree. But not one player really stood out. Shouldn't the coaches be able to identify a player or two and make them better?
It's hard as hades to recruit that much size and talent, and then when you get them on the roster, your staff decides they'd rather throw to midgets and a guy who has had bricks for hands ALL season long. You cannot convince me that we would have fared worse if we started North and Harris...used Croom as a TE/WR hybrid, and Pig in the slot. That's leaning on defenses with size...and picking on the short DB all day long.
But no...we aren't smart enough to use the resources we have. Harris was an EE, so that tells me he's smart and got his academics in order (not a slacker), and it tells me he had 7 months head start on his other teammates. He cannot be THAT damn bad. Early in the season, Worley (or maybe it was Peterman) threw a bad pass to him and he made a very, very tough catch. So, if he's got bad hands, he sure didn't on that play. Haven't seen him on the field at all since.
People always blast those of us who question the coaches at times....even when Dooley was running the show. His departure vividly illustrates that coaches often make bad judgement calls...in evaluations, schemes, etc. Kiffin told no less than 3 Heisman winners or candidates to go take a hike. :loco:
