Best defense in SEC, almost worst offense

Alabama never has played defense since Nate Oats arrival. They made a final 4 strictly on offense. KenPom doesn’t win NCAA tournament games but non scoring droughts of 4 minutes or longer will get you the exit ticket in a grind it out game on a neutral floor. Our defense is tough and gives us a punchers chance no matter who we play. Can we overcome when Chaz is off or being manhandled with no whistle in a tournament game? I believe the jury is still deliberating if we can. Our starters all have to look to attack the rim, get a whistle or draw and kick to open shooter and we need to shoot when we are open. That means you Igor and Mashack.
What? They’ve had a top 5 defense efficiency 2 years in the last 5. Do you remember Herb Jones?

The Bediako/Miller team was top 5 as well.

Fair point. Maybe it does. I haven't made a prediction in that game one way or the other. My only point is more possessions a game doesn’t necessarily mean more points if your problem is hitting the shots.
Incidentally, if we get 10 points over our average ( 86.5) and they get their average ( 90.2) we still lose.
What we need to do is hold them to about 6-7 under their average and score 6-7 over our average.
Last year we held Bama way below their average PPG both times we played them.

Another thing that is interesting is that while Alabama has the best scoring offense in the SEC and in the Nation, they are last in the SEC and #320 nationally! Kentucky is similar.
( #2 offense SEC/#2 nationally /#291 defense)
Their fans are probably making a similar post about their Defense. 😆

Just goes to show in college basketball good offense is definitely more valuable than a good defensive.
That's Fandom, accentuate the negative and eliminate the positive🤣

I don't think most people believe Alabama is going to get in the 90's on us this year. The question/statement is/was is our offense necessarily better than their
defense (paraphrasing) ?
So IMO, the real question is can we score enough points on them to beat them.
If your answer is yes, then holding them below their average surely has been assumed.

To make a run at a potential elite 8 / final 4 . . . It’s all about matchups . . . But UT likely needs to play better on offense or a sweet 16 (which is both great and disappointing when you consider UT has a generational talent at PG) is the ceiling - IMO.

Some do that for sure but sometimes it's just realizing what they have to achieve to be great or maybe win it all.
A lot of fans just over value their team. It's part of being a fan. It's why you'll see fans from a team ranked 30th or even 130th tossing up the " we're number 1" sign at games.

I’m just saying it was good enough last year, twice. Our D is similar to last year and so is their O. I say yes.
