Best High School Player Seen

JC had a darn good career in the CFL. He was one of my favorite Volunteers players.
CFL is kinda fun to watch. They have a pretty controlled pay structure though. Most CFL players still have to have off-season jobs. It's not your life like the NFL. Good linemen make like 250K

The CFL drafts a lot of skill players from the US but they try to have all their linemen and kickers be Canadians

Did anyone every see Albert Means play in Memphis for Trezevant High School? I know his recruitment brought the NCAA down hard on Alabama.

When I was working at the CBS Affiliate in Knoxville back in the late 2000s, I took an informal poll of our sports team on this very question. The consensus among out three sports reporters/anchors was that the best HS player they had seen was Travis Cozart. They described him as being unbelievably good at Lenoir City and thought he was a sure-fire NFL prospect.

That’s accurate. He was a man among boys and even when he got to UT after JUCO was playing at another level. Just couldn’t do the common sense things to stay out of trouble.

Owen Daniels. Naperville Central HS Naperville IL. (Same school as Candace Parker).
I saw every game they played that season (my kids went there)
He was an amazing QB in high school. 6-4 230 and could pass and run. Undefeated state champs in 1999
Went to Wisconsin and they changed him to TE. Ended up playing 10 years in NFL and caught a pass from Peyton in his last Super Bowl with the Broncos

Andy Kelly and Shazzon Bradley, I was a freshman so I saw some great games. Best player I actually shared the field with in a meaningful game was Shawn Summers
Back in the same timeframe, Billy Williams @ Alcoa was fun to watch outrun everyone on the long ball. He was a Squirrel White type (physically), and could outrun just about anything around. Billy Williams was one fast cat!
Edit: I’m not looking it up, but after further thought, I’m guessing I first witnessed Billy at Alcoa in ‘85/‘86 timeframe in HS. Then, watched him haul in at least one long ball @ Neyland for the good guys shortly following. As I recall, Billy wasn’t the best student, but man he could fly. Would love to have him in this system.

Went to high school at Bearden Mikal Smith was there. (Lovie’s son) he was the best I’ve ever seen. Another Bearden guy on that team was up there as well.
Saw Michael Bush play for Louisville Male in 2003. We were after him but he stayed home. He’s the second best.

Weighed about 120 in HS, weighed 122 in college it seemed like. A lot like Justin Hunter
