Smokey sure has improved over the years. The costume in the first photo isn’t bad but the others are frighteningly bad.

I had to look up what this mascot was supposed to be (it looks like a green turd wrapped in a blanket). The geoduck is a large type of mollusk that is harvested commercially in the Pacific Northwest. It looks like this:

Frankly, Smokey is the best mascot, ever - the dog, then the student in the plush costume. In the FBS, the students performing as GT's Buzz have been consistently good over the decades, but, 22 lengths behind Smokey. In the B1G, everybody's deep in the drag behind Goldie. Sparty, Brutus are just chorus line dancers compared to Goldie, and Lil Red's there to remind us to teach our children not to laugh at the developmentally challenged.

Not sure it counts as a "mascot", but mad props (and style) goes to Georgia Tech with the Ramblin Wreck:

Ohio State's Brutus looks like something found in an outhouse.

Pistol Pete could double time as a scary ride at a carnival.

I ate some that a sushi chef had flown in from WA one time years ago...watching him prepare while it was still alive was pretty interesting. There’s an episode of Dirty Jobs where they show how they’re harvested too.

I figured that the ESPN mascot commercials probably try to use some of the better looking mascots. They have done them for many years and they're pretty funny. Here is a compilation, but I don't guarantee these are the best ones.
