I love me some Hendon, but I'm gonna have to go with the Iceman on this one

4 years is greater than 2

Clausens will to win rubbed off on everybody-even the fans. Always thought we had a shot with him under center
This. Hooker had one above average year and one great year. Iceman was a field general and was even better on the road in hostile environments. He was also significantly closer to playing for/winning it all and was a better all around passer, even though Hooker probably had better touch on deep balls.

Hooker is still a great college Qb and a VFL and this post is not a knock on him or what he did for the Vols. I wish he could have been here one more season. I would probably think differently about it. I just think Iceman proved his value longer and had more success over his career, so he deserves the accolade more.

Looking at this list brought back lots of great memories of big plays.

Question to the thread...
...What highlight do you think of when you think of Nico?

Hooker, and there is no second place. His stats indicate that if he'd had the same amount of time as Manning at UT, he'd have challenged every record Manning set.
Hooker was better than Dobbs, statistics wise, but he had a far better supporting cast, a far better coach, and a far better offensive scheme.

As an individual, Dobbs has the edge.

Also, I can't believe that no one is voting for Tyler Bray. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

How is the man that helped give us a national championship not have more votes than Casey Clausen yikes. Rick might've been a better qb then Casey...

Clausen. He could win road games. And don't come @ me with an 11 a.m. game in Baton Rogue.
It was a tough decision between HH and CC but I went with Hendon. The 11 win team with HH would have been a playoff team in the current format. Of course, you could say the same thing about the 2001 team. The 2022 offense was outstanding but the defense gave up a ton of points. Casey had much better talent on the roster in his four years than Hendon did in his two seasons.

CC was a good QB, but I think we are overrating him a bit. Yes, he had a few nice wins on the road, but he lost 3 bowl games, 2 of which we were favorites against average ACC teams. 8-5 in 2002 was nothing to brag about and I won’t mention the SECCG fiasco. Post Manning, I’d almost have to go with a tie between JD and HH. HH had the best single season in our history but JD played 4 years and carried our team in many ways.

Clausen would be #1 if he had the same type of stats as Hendo. But a guy who went 3-1 in his career against both Florida and Alabama - as well as undefeated both in The Swamp and T-Town - can't be lower than 2 on the list IMO.
Respect that but it wasn’t saban bama… hooker ended the drought vs a much more talented team… the answer is Hendon and respectfully to Casey or Dobbs it’s not even close… as many have said if we replace hendon with Nico last year then we are in Atlanta for sure and a good chance we go deep into the playoffs…

Crazy thing to me about Clausen is that he look a lot of flack during his time here for his perceived shortcomings, mostly due to following Manning and Martin. It wasn’t until we got pretty deep into the dark ages that people started reassessing his time on the hill. His overall body of work has aged like wine.

I voted Dobbs, but I understand the arguments for Hooker and Clausen.

I was tempted to go with Hendon but the fact remains that, despite the stellar supporting cast, Tee won the natty. It's the most important and most difficult position in the game and he put together the winning season.

Results-wise, it’s obviously Tee.

But QB play is 7 vs 5. Casey vs Hendon is tough. UT ran a totally different scheme back in 2000-2003. Way less explosive plays. But those teams also had so much more talent overall than 2021-2022. I’m still going Hendon. He just never threw any interceptions. Even for the Heupel scheme that limits INTs by design, it was amazing. 5 picks in 2 years? Incredible.

Hooker was the best since Peyton, but you don’t have the next closest guy one your list, Tyler Bray. If Dooley didn’t hire Sal sunseri Bray would’ve lead them to a sec east title and possibly an sec championship. Bray was the exact opposite of Casey clausen.
Bray was a great quarterback on an average team Clausen was an average quarterback on a great team.
