How was the pricing?

It was about like everywhere down there. $10-$20 entrées. My family of four was about $80 including tip. They atmosphere was great though. The outdoor bar area was really nice. Didn't get a chance to partake but it was very crowded. Hopefully next time.

Ziti...when you have time, can you come back to this thread and post what was good (and what was bad / not so good) if you don't mind sharing.

I'll be down that way in August - TIA

Down the Hatch (Ponce Inlet) - great atmosphere and the food is good too but a little overpriced in my opinion. We go every year because we've been going for decades.

Ocean's Seafood - we ordered crablegs to go and took back to the room. Best deal you'll find. It's like $10 a pound cooked.

Outriggers - New Marina restaurant - Everyone loved this place. I think we will add it to our regular spots that we go to every year. Really cool place.

Manny's Pizza - Nothing earth shattering here. It's pretty good pizza

Boston's - first time we've ever went to this place. The food was good. The set up is a little weird. You order your food and pay before you sit down. Then while your eating, people are lining up to come in.

Chase's - meh. It's alright. We can walk there from our place and it's on the beach.

Bumping this thread because I don't know of a better place to ask this question.

Has anyone had trouble traveling 40 eastbound thru the mountains? I heard there was an old rockslide they are repairing that is causing delays.

I'll be traveling in a couple weeks and my preferred route is thru the mountains. We are going on a weekday and should be thru the mountains before sunrise so that should help with traffic but wanted to see if anyone had been thru lately.

Lane closures over Douglas Lake have resulted in horrible back-ups, not sure how it is during the week.

Have a place toward Turtle Mound. i mostly like it bc of the fishing. NSB takes everything we like about the beach and hits a home run.

skip blackbeards.

Garlic is our fav. My folks swear up and down that Spanish River is good i didnt care for it.

Personally i enjoy the bar menu at Riverview, and lunch at Dolphin View. We skipped Outriggers.

JBs is okay, but if you have a peanut allergy. stay away. i usually dont drive home as i have a liquid diet

Barracudas is good, as it has a sister restaurant on Flagler. Breakers is best burger.

Pizza? gotta go to Panheads. cool atmosphere. If you like beer the New Smyrna Beach Brewery is cool, and yes family friendly. Some of the nicest people weve met.

If you like breakfast. im about to change your life forever

Bagel World.

My family has vacationed to Daytona Beach for decades. However, we have recently switched over to New Smyrna Beach as our destination. We have found some restaurants in NSB we really like but still feeling our way around.

Any recommendations in the New Smyrna/Ponce Inlet/Daytona Beach area?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for fun activites/places to visit etc., please share those as well.

depends. there's tons to do. remember though water sports and outdoor activities encompass the bulk of NSB events.

Weekly NSB offers some type of Arts and Crafts up and down Flagler avenue. which can be found at their website.

NSB is smaller and off the grid in comparison to Daytona.
If you like outdoor activities. theres plenty to do. Kayak rentals are cheap and in abundance, JB's charges about 10.00 per hour.

If youre into a bit more exercising or endurance activities. Volusia County has a scenic kayak trail, accessible via the Marine Discovery Center.

the Discovery Center does guided kayak tours to see manatees etc. Turtle Mound National Park is close by for hiking.

Best thing i can suggest is load up on Corona, head to the beach and relax. Grab a surf pole and try to catch dinner.

oh yea. Mosquito lagoon offers world class redfishing if you can charter a boat...do it.

We always do some surf fishing. Hooked something big last year fishing with cut bait that broke off our leader. Going back this year with bigger tackle. We always catch a few sharks down there but they are very small. Really want to catch a shark with some size. Saw a shark swimming very close to shore last year and some guys fishing were able to get it to bite but it sped out to sea and broke them off pretty quickly.

Planning on chartering a boat and doing some redfishing this year. Wanted to do it last year but it didn't work out.

Dave Roberson, a 20+ year vet, is a guide out of Titusville...catches his own pigfish. really knows the lagoon. hes known as a meatchucker. but will put you on some 20+ lb fish around the cape, tons of slots, and gator trout. he is without a doubt the best..

caveat. he doesnt like fly fishermen.

IF you want to catch a shark surf fishing, head to bethune public access down s atlantic. theres a rockpile out there and for some reasom they are caught there frequesntly. a guy caught a 100 lber there coupla years ago.

had similar break off two summers ago. probably a ray. good luck. check out end of the line, theyll get you bait and hook you up with what for and why how.

for fly stuff. theres a fly shop downtown thats cool.
