There are lots of great movies about American wars, but I hate this genre. It's too real.

Braveheart makes The Patriot look like a Ken Burns work.

I do take issue with the portrayal of Cornwallis though, he was far from a fat boob.

I didn't like the portrayal of Cornwallis. This movie definitely has a lot of propaganda to make you hate the British. But the Americans were just as bad, with its guerrilla warfare tactics, which had never been seen before in gentleman's war.

To Hell and Back (1955)

The true WWII story of Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier in U.S. history. Based on the autobiography of Audie Murphy who portrays himself in the film.

Much like the pacific, it reflects on the human aspect of war and the absolute horror it entails.

It was an ok movie, I guess.

Band of Brothers focused on the human aspects as well. Same could be said about Hamburger Hill. The Pacific was just really dark. Yeah, I know war is horrible and all, but it isn't all negative.

The Thin Red Line just didn't have any decent acting nor a decent plot. Just my opinion. I think it's a classic example of "the critics loved it, so hence it probably will suck."

Hated that movie. Absolutely horrid IMO. The critics loved it, but I have never seen the attraction.

acting was just fine, if not actually pretty good across the board. i can kinda agree that the plot isn't the best, but plot has never really been Malick's forte. Much like the rest of Malick's work, it's understandably not for everyone. Most critics love it cause they view it as the beautiful, thought provoking piece of art that it is.

The music was pretty awesome though..Journey To The Line was so good its been used in like every action movie preview since.

The Green Berets starring John Wayne.

It was great when the green beret shut up the reporters asking about why we were in Vietnam fighting. He threw a bunch of seized Russian and Chinese made weapons on their table and said to stop the world domination of communism.

No Force 10 From Navarone?

Some movies should never have sequels.

I liked Force 10 from Navarone, but not trying to bring back characters like they did. It's hard to replace Gregory Peck and David Niven in the roles they had.
