Their offense is very limited. They will not be able to run the ball and we will. Game would be a blow out.
Idk how you came to the conclusion they can’t run the ball. They average 5.0 yards per carry. We average 5.1. They throw it more than we do and have two really good backs they split carries between.

Spread is about right and perhaps a bit conservative. I'm guessing it's gonna be cold and it's a road game. Neither bodes well for the Vols. Pretty hard to feel good about this one.
Remember the Miracle at South Bend? I lived in the Chicago area then and was there. It was cold that day too but our boys got us the W. #7 team gets the toughest deal in the bracket. When we win it all we will have more to crow about.

Sounds like an Ohio State fan to me. It’s cold. Southern teams can’t play in the cold up here in the north. But yet it was 23 in Columbus last night, and 25 in Knoxville. Florida had a freeze warning last night. So, we are going to lose, because it’s cold in Columbus? Heck Ryan Day blamed the missed field goal because it was windy? I’ve heard OState fans say they lost, because of sunny, snow, cold and sunshine. Now, they lost because it was windy. Ok! 😂
The facts are the facts. Teams play better normally in climates they are acclimated to. People function better in temps their body is used to. See it through orange glasses all you want but it is what it is. Just because it’s cold here in Tn right now doesn’t mean Tn is used to playing in those conditions.

What teams are properly rated, in your eyes?

I think everyone has major flaws this year. There is no clear 1 or 2. What I can say is we do not match up well with GA and maybe not Texas or Oregon. Every other team in the playoffs we beat by 10 or more. Nico is finally taking the next steps and Matthews has really come along lately. I think 1 and 2 are correctly rated. I think we should be 4th behind Ga.

I would like to think we would handle this team. They don't scare me that much but I have watched Huepel teams on the road in big time meaningful games before.

How can you say we beat every team in the playoff by 10 ore more when we haven’t beaten a team with a winning record by 10 more more?

They are talented, but haven't faced a defense like ours. Michigan beat them by shutting down Judkins and outrushing them. I think that plays into our strengths a little as well. Also, with the exception of Oregon and Penn State, their schedule was softer than puppy poo.

Their biggest advantage is that we don't play well on the road; however, Nico is playing with much more confidence as of late.
Indiana, Michigan, and Penn State have better rushing defense stats than us per the NCAA. Argue all day the B1G vs SEC but Ohio State has seen some tight defenses and they've been spotty against them.

I don’t feel good at all about this matchup. I just don’t see us beating them in the Shoe. No matter how bad they looked Saturday
Same here, don't feel good about playing a team that just lost at home, and the talk about firing the coach. All those things work against catching a team sleeping or not up for a game. I would rather have some of the top rated teams play each other and knock each other out. Playing Ohio ST and then Oregon, couldn't have picked a worse pairing IMHO

What's OSU's record in games in Columbus played in December? It's not like the Big 10 team plays half their games in snow storms and the other half in blizzards.

Yeah, weather can be a factor but It's getting blown way out of proportion.

Sounds like one of our dumbass fans that forgets how bad we play on the rd.i hate Ohio St, but don't get it twisted. They have 21 million in NIL talent on that roster. They don't always play like it, but that's not a good matchup. Just like you fools thought we would win at GA.

I've watched a bunch of Ohio State games this year (my wife is a fan) and I think people are underestimating how good they are. They had one bad game, we had more than one bad game, we just out talented those teams. I'd say we have about a 40% chance to win vs if we played them here I'd give us a 60% chance.

They throw it against horrible teams. They are really overrated.
We played a couple of the worst teams in football. We are throwing the ball better now than sincE the beginning of the SEC schedule. OHS has always had outstanding receivers and we are catching up to them. However, defense will determine who wins this game. I think we have the better defense, based on our schedule compared to theirs. We will have to make sure our LBs maintain their lane responsibilities and the Safeties do not get beaten deep. In addition, we need to get the ball into the end zone on our kickoffs. Vandy opened up a serious problem in our kickoff coverage.

Cold is fine, windy could be another story.
Tennessee will have a healthy running back crew.
Pound it baby, hit two big shot down the field.
I like our chances.

Did the Penn State and Nebraska games impress you?

It seems to me like it comes down to our ability to protect Nico. When we have, he's looked pretty good and we've won. But when we've given up 4 or more sacks, he's looks bad and we've lost.

A lot of cringy “What other boards are saying” material here. If this winds up being our matchup then it is what it is. We earned a lower seed by not getting it done on the field yet we still have the opportunity to play and move on.

I simply don’t see why some of us are so freaked out. OSU is a very good team. Tenn. is possibly a very good team if we play a complete game. Excited to find out what we can do!

Nobody should be freaked out. Vols can beat any team on any field. I’m excited to see what happens.
