Biden's Student Loan Debt Forgiveness

That's kinda how loans work....

No different than if he borrowed $50K to buy a truck. You have to pay it back with interest.

He sounds like a guy that goes to a furniture store and decide to take the payment plan. Then realizes half way through this is costing me too much. Get mad and think the government should do something about it. He has a right.

I just never understood why someone else's bad decision means that other people HAVE to bail them out. especially when many of those people either made choices to avoid that debt, or have already paid off that debt themselves.

It would be a better argument if they were looking to erase a set level of debt for EVERYBODY. Medical debts forgiveness should come long before student payments. picking students is just straight up buying votes.

even as an adult do most people really understand what a loan is? What credit card debt means to their life? Trying to brush off the issue as they didn't know better doesn't hold water when that excuse doesn't get you out of anything else in life. Like if a 17-18 got a loan for a business, the excuse of them not understanding doesn't cancel the debt. and the business loan is just as necessary for their future as people seem to think college is.

Not that life is ever easy, but gonna be an especially rocky road for a lot of young people with their mentality and spending habits.
especially if they keep getting bailed out by other people's money. mom and dad wasn't enough. now everyone from Bill Gates to the single mom raising three kids has to support these college students.

Good. Those student loans are predatory. 17/18 year olds don't know what they're getting themselves into. A buddy of mine graduated 50k in debt, signed up for an IBR plan so payments are manageable, no issue, right? Well he makes around 50k and fast forward 10 years now owes over 70k because of interest. Making on time payments. That's just not right.

How’s it not right? He wanted money. Someone gave him money. He agreed to repay the money + interest.

What am I missing?

Making 50K with one job? That much debt he needs a new career or pick up a second job. That’s his fault now.

Sounds like the loan program should be disbanded, I am sure the libs that complain about it will call for it any day now.
No protest over or discussions of colleges and universities increasing tuition. Nobody says you have to take on big debt if your state provides free community college.

I wonder if college or lenders might be liable for civil fraud suits if the loan for college doesn't equate to a Job that can pay off the loan...seems fraudulent for the colleges to push that narrative. In NY of course

Now if slojoe will forgive healthcare costs for people who've lost life savings to cancer treatments etc.
Increase SS benifits above poverty levels.
Eliminate property taxes for primary residence after 65.
I could go on but these people for the most part are not Joes voting base..

So I call to try to get my student loan balance since payments are due again. After being placed on hold and listening to a Spanish speaking option I ask myself, why are we letting people who don't speak English borrow to go to college? Is that the place to learn English or do we not care if some learn English or not? All I could think about was the excess in tax dollars we spend on providing this additional staffing. I remember thinking about this cost 20 years ago and today it has to cost billions.

[didn’t know where else to put this]

But these are the people demanding their loans be paid off. Get a load of these clowns -

I've only been working full time for a few months since graduating from college in the spring and I'm already so downtrodden by it all.

How can I make sure I'm eating well and seeing my friends and taking time for my hobbies? How am I supposed to fit my whole life into a 9-to-5 work schedule?

😂

just like our grandparents/great grandparents laughed at the softness of people taking the 40 hr work week. how were we going to remain productive if we are only working 40hr weeks? why do we need 2 days off for the weekend? 1 was good enough, and they did 60hr weeks. those pushing for 40 need to STFU and go back to work. and the farmers laugh at those who only worked 60 hr weeks.

the expectations for work change over time, always has, always will.

There are still people who work 80 hour weeks. I did for years managing restaurants.

If you don’t want to work 40 hours, then take a part time job where you work 20 hours.

They want 40 hours pay, for 20 hours work - and complain of not having time for Eating, Friends, & Hobbies.

Yea… I’m still going to laugh at them.

and the people who work 40 wanted to keep getting paid like they did when they worked 60. again its nothing different now.

My favorite is when the left compares salaries of people working 80-100hrs a week to 40 hour employees.

“McDonald’s CEO makes X! And the fry guy makes Y!”

O wow!

Nice try: Executive compensation in America is a well-known scandal--has been for a long time. Thanks to board of directors cronyism and just blatant greed, U.S. executives make FAR, FAR more than their counterparts around the world.
