Big 12 adding 4 schools

Yet again Memphis gets left out, with their overall success lately I'm surprised they weren't included.
However, there isn't a team in that four that I would drop for Memphis.

The AAC is about to be its old CUSA self again. you
There are rumors circulating around here that SMU will apply for membership in the WAC.

I wonder if this will affect the BYU game scheduled for 2023. If they move to the Big12 by then, they may have to drop that game for a conference game.

If SMU jumps ship I can see the AAC being dismantled with everyone else just taking a spot where they can in another conference.

Your remaining 7 would be - Memphis, Navy, Temple, South Florida, East Carolina, Tulsa, Tulane.

If I'm over the AAC I am making calls to - APP State, Louisiana, North TX, LA Tech, Southern Miss

UCF should wait for ACC expansion or until SEC poaches FSU. Miami and UF might not like it but there should be 2 Florida schools in both the ACC and SEC. IMO Memphis and Tulsa would be better for Big12. SMU should
stay put and let it shake out before making any move.

If FSU jumps ship, then a few more teams will to. It all depends on if anyone wants to try and challenge the GOR, which is a big risk.

I was actually in favor of the BIG XII taking the two best teams available and then sit back and see what happens to the ACC and/or the PAC 12. If USC and Oregon were to see futures being in the BIG then the Arizona schools and UCLA will be looking for new homes. A similar situation also occurs in the ACC if Clemson and FSU decide to jump ship. UNC and VA Tech would be travel partners for WVU.

That's a brutal travel schedule for UCF and conference games.

The WAC return to football is FCS level. They would have to really want to drop down and play Sam Houston, SF Austin Abilene Christian, Dixie State, etc.

At this point, it would make sense for the remaining G5 schools in Texas and Louisiana to form their own conference.

UTEP, TX St, UTSA, SMU, North Texas, Rice, Louisiana, UL-Monroe, LA Tech, and Tulane. That gets you 10. Maybe add Tulsa and promote Sam Houston St who is a FCS powerhouse to get to 12. That would be as good a conference as any G5, outside of maybe the Mountain West. Limited travel for non revenue sports. It's a win-win.

Not a bad idea. Maybe expand the boundary and add Southern Miss for the 12th.

Sounds like it will be official by the end of the day.

Wow. With these four titans of college sports, no one is even going to notice that Texas and Oklahoma left. I bet those two are seriously rethinking their decision.

Sam Houston State has already joined the WAC. They are resurrecting football at FCS level.
