It looks like we may get a significant snow late Monday through Wednesday (nsd). At first I thought thank God it's not 48 hours sooner but then I realized in some ways hitting Tuesday/Wednesday could be just as bad. If this storm develops like the models are "currently" forecasting I would suggest our coaching staff head to ATL early Monday and set up a war room there in case they need to make any last minute visits. Excuse my ignorance but is there a dead period anytime before nsd?

This is East Tennessee and when it comes to snow it's never a for sure thing until it actually happens but the weather pattern setting up early next week looks nasty.

So, it has come to this. Now, we are posting rumors on weather. I think we get enough rumors on sports, not need for the weather....:) By the way, the meteorologist is the only occupation I know. That gets paid for being wrong all the time....:)

I didn't even click the link. Just thought it was funny that I've never seen you post in this forum, but as soon as a weather-related thread springs up...

:p

I don't post here much, but I check it often...I usually only like to post if I have something I think is worth sharing...unless it's a game thread and then all bets are off. But, I do post in the recruiting forum on occasion...not much though. Without a doubt though, a weather thread will get my interest. :)

Edit: Had you clicked on the link you would see that the forecast doesn't seem that bad...but I assume some other outlet is putting out a more grim forecast or something....

Never check the forecast. I wear the same thing everyday, regardless.

I was just mainly confused where the warnings of a big snowstorm were coming from....because I didn't get that out of this forecast...but I've heard other people talking about it as well...just a bit confused.

Of course loi's are faxed. If you read the post my concern was the staff's ability to travel if needed. It seems that the only day that would be questionable would be Tuesday since I'm guessing you can't visit prospects on nsd anyway. Actually I don't even know if coaches can visit on Tuesday or if there is a dead period before nsd. A forecast isn't a rumor I didn't say I know someone who knows someone who knows a weather man. If your interested just check weather.com I believe it's the top story on their homepage. I'm just the messenger so don't ridicule me until Tuesday when it's sunny and 60.

OK....so it's weather.com....I was just trying to figure out where the forecast was coming from (which is all I said all along..nothing about rumors or faxes or planes). The KNS forecast wouldn't make me think that getting a plane off the ground would be a problem at this point - I'll look at the weather.com forecast.

WINTRY WEATHER IS POSSIBLE EARLY NEXT WEEK ACROSS EAST TENNESSEE... SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA... AND SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA...

A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO MONDAY SPREADING PRECIPITATION NORTHEAST INTO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS EARLY NEXT WEEK. THE LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE NORTHEAST UP THE EASTERN SEABOARD MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY ALLOWING COLDER AIR TO SPILL INTO THE REGION. A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW IS ANTICIPATED MONDAY BEFORE CHANGING TO ALL SNOW AREA-WIDE LATE MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

OCCASIONAL SNOW IS EXPECTED MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY WITH SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE... ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THE SNOW MAY LINGER OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT. BESIDES THE SNOW... BRISK NORTHWEST WINDS AND COLD TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.

THE SNOW MAY PRODUCE DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS ACROSS THE AREA EARLY NEXT WEEK. RESIDENTS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS AND TENNESSEE VALLEY WILL NEED TO KEEP ABREAST OF THE LATEST FORECAST FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

No Additional Weather Alerts for Knoxville, TN

If McGee-Tyson is worth their salt (no pun intended), they'll see to it that any planes that need to get off the ground for UT get off the ground :). Seriously, though, significant accumulation for TN is probably 3-5 inches...if Knoxville gets that amount that shouldn't keep planes on the ground (particularly if it is on the lower end in the valley)...but who knows...particularly if the changeover from rain to snow involves very much ice...that is an entirely different ballgame of course.

Sorry, I linked to the wrong post I know you didn't say anything about rumors, faxes or planes. I will double check from now on.
