Big Ten commish wants to change CWS format...

Let's add some extra bids to the Women's CWS that are designated for non-Pac Ten teams while we're at it. And, if that's not acceptable, then why not create a separate WCWS for teams not located on the West Coast?

The next thing Delaney will do is try to cut the SEC out of the BCS title game.

What were the names of the divisions he proposed?

I already hated Delaney for his stance on the BCS and Rose Bowl. Then, he came up with those ego-filling names for the Big Ten's divisions, and now he wants to overhaul the CWS just to benefit his league.

I have come to the conclusion that I hate everything Jim Delaney stands for in sports. The NCAA, its member institutions, and college sports fans nationwide would all be better off if this guy resigned.

. . . wants a guaranteed Big 10 bid to the College World Series. If he gets it, he'll have to explain why the Big 10 does even worse in the CWS than they do in bowl games.

Ironically, one of his programs, Michigan, is the only team east of the Mississippi to ever win the Women's College World Series.

If a BigTen softball program can win a national championship, so can a baseball team. The difference is, Michigan put money in its softball program, something BigTen schools are not doing in baseball. Most have high school-looking stadiums. Just watch games on BTN, outside of Michigan and a couple of others, it looks like travel ball stadiums. A little investment goes a lot farther than changing the rules.

Besides, noone wants to see BigTen teams that don't belong there go 0-2-Q in Omaha every year.

... and expand the CWS to 10 teams that include 2 automatic qualifiers from the northern region. Also, he wants to start the season in mid March/April which would push the CWS into late July and may support a proposition where northern schools would secede and form their own northern CWS. Thoughts?

Seriously? lol

No sports determine who qualifies for the NCAA Championships or the final site (i.e. Final Four, College World Series, etc.) on geography. No reason to start now.

And the season already starts late enough. It wasn't that long ago when it started in January.

If they want to create a baseball version of the NIT, more power to them.

Oh, and good point brought up above - if the Big Ten can compete in softball, there is no reason they can't do the same in baseball. Especially considering the softball season starts weeks before baseball.
