Milton also hit some tight windows last night that Hooker probably wouldn’t have attempted.

This is a point that a lot of people don't understand. Milton may not do everything that Hooker did, but he's also capable of doing some things that Hooker couldn't. We'll see what improvements come with the offseason and more reps, but if he can get completely comfortable in this offense, he can do some special things. His arm opens up elements of the offense that aren't present with other QBs.

If the defense can get better, especially the Secondary, lookout.

This. To me, this is just about the highest priority—fixing the secondary. In my book, Martinez is on probation. We have six DBs coming in with this class. Add these to the ones he already has, and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever why we can’t field an SEC-quality secondary.

Not incidentally, I would like to see Kamal Hadden hit the portal. I’m sorry, son, but we can’t count on you. We’ve all seen you get burned way too many times and miss far too many tackles over the past two seasons. Worse, far worse, is your mouth…especially right after you get burned or trucked. We don’t need no lippy punks on this team, especially those who can’t cover or tackle.

In your defense, your play may be the way you are coached. I’ll give you that. But, if so, that coach should have had you sitting the first time you embarrassed us with your mouth in front of a national audience. That’s coaching, too. Care to comment, Willie?

I know for a fact that first pass was a thing of beauty and idk if theirs very many qbs in college that could do it. The second one was also a thing of beauty, idk if hooker could do it probably so but idk about that first one.!
You’re right tho! If Milton gets comfortable in this system watch out!

And that underscores a theme that Coach Heupel has addressed pointblank in the past. He is always tweaking his offense to take fullest advantage of what his current starting quarterback is most adept at doing. Consequently, his offenses exhibit comparable degrees of productivity from year-to-year, despite significant differences in the specific skill sets at the signal caller position.

One of the biggest positives in this game is that Overthrow Joe didn't overthrow anyone which is extremely encouraging. That's obviously not his only kinks to work out. But it certainly shows he's got a lot more control of it during games. I think that was going to work itself out the more in game reps he got. That first TD pass he threw was an NFL throw. If he can consistently make that throw, he's gonna have a good year next year.

One other thing he's gonna have to get better at is the "internal clock" and knowing when it's time to take off and/or get rid of the ball.
