Biggest bust as a highly touted recruit.

There were a few underperformed under Butch, but the one that was most disappointing to me was Dillon Bates. Highly rated 4 star. 95 rating. Yet, despite staying at Tennessee fir 5 years, he was never was more than a ST player. Never actually played LB.
That's a good one and I'm surprised he wasnt brought up sooner.

Speaking of legacy players, Todd Kelly Jr never lived up to his full potential either and certainly never had the career his dad did here. I think he had injuries, plus didn't he have some mental/emotional issues too?

Kelly was better. Pulled for Sterling at the beginning of the season...mostly due to Sterling's performance the previous season against Boston College. But that was more him being better than Randy Sanders. Still believe we beat Bama that season with Kelly under center. He was frustrating because he could lead you back from any deficit. But way too often, he was the reason you were behind in the first place. But his legacy should be cemented at UT. He was the signalcaller for way too many great victories and if he was a hack, they would've been losses.

Majors loved him some Andy Kelly. Kelly was never out of a game.

Not by his ranking bug just my hopes based on his freakish athletic ability.

Dee Beckwith.

Quite a few swing and misses from that 2020 class that had a bunch of hype. Key Lawrence, the LB trio...

All I remember is the Crompton hype that never actually panned out.

That was Fulmer's problem. He was always paranoid about bringing in the best offensive staff that he could have attained.

You just don't remember what Crompton was able to do during the second half of the season under Kiffin.

Got to remember that this is the first time we have had a true AD since Dickey retired in 2002. He would have never let Fulmer drag down that program in the first place.

Yeah, and we missed out on Patrick Willis to get him and some other guy who ended up not being all that at Florida State.

People say this a lot, but it's just not true. Fulmer DID visit Bruceton to see Patrick and even commented that he could play anywhere he chose. Finley was a huge Ole Miss fan and steered Patrick in that direction. Think Blind Side but just the defense version.

He quit on his team. He got lit up and fumbled in the Georgia game because he lost focus and tried to showboat into the end zone. Then he refused to play in the A&M game and left at the end of the season. I don't care what the coach did or didn't promise him. He handled that situation about as terribly as you can. Plus wasn't he the catalyst who pushed for the firing of S&C coach Dave Lawson? Yeah, the impact of that was definitely felt the next season when we looked about as soft as marshmallows against Appy State. I'm not saying CBJ didn't do him wrong but the way Hurd handled it was bad. He SHOULD'VE been a beloved VFL, up there with Al Wilson, Manning, Eric Berry, etc but because of how he acted, he's all but forgotten about now. Truly a shame.

Didn't help Hurd that Kamara had 275 yards v TAMU.

Brent Schaeffer.

Loved his action. Left handed RPO QB.

Injured as Freshman. Then got in trouble with a computer somehow.

You’re getting the computer part mixed up with Cameron Clear.
