The 3 finalists are Calvin Johnson, Jarrett Dillard, and Jeff Samardzija

Sorry if this has been postet, but im confused as to why Meachem isnt one of the 3 finalists. He's got more catches than both Johnson and Samardzija and more yards than all three of them. He's gettin the shaft.

Meachem should definitely be in there. I don't see how you can't give him the nod when he could be the nations leading receiver. Samardijza, yeah maybe last year.

C. Johnson had it won before the season started. He only had to show up for the games... unfortunately he was shut out by Clemson.

Who in the hell is Jarrett Dillard? Paging Volin'Zona. Volin'Zona. Copy?

Well Dillard is a receiver for Rice. I think its a joke he's a finalist but I think it was his touchdown totals that got him there his stats:
REC YDS TDS
76 1031 17

With all that being said he is on a 6-5 Rice team in conference USA

it should be noted he's on a 6-5 rice team that has gone 6-1 over the last seven

This award has been a joke since it started. All they look at is stats and not what kind of player the receiver is and how he helped his team win. Maybe he can join such past greats who have won this award like. Marcus Harris, Troy Edwards, Troy Walters and oh yeah the great Mike Haas last year.

Speaking of good receivers . . .

PLEASE come back to school next year Meachem!

Maybe we should start an "encourage Meach to stay thread . . . "

Our offense would be dirty next year if he comes back. Ainge, Coker, Hardesty, Foster, all the TEs, overall improved O-line (except minus Arron Sears, of course) play, Meach, Lucas Taylor, Quinton Hancock, Briscoe, Brent Vinson, Austin Rogers . . .

Awards like these are a big joke. Media types decide at the beginning of every year who they think are the best players at their respective positions and barring a complete flop they stick with it. Remember '04 when Mahelona was statistically much better than Pollack. Pollack wins the Bednarik Award(defensive player of the year) and Mahelona isn't even first team All-SEC. Pollack was awesome, no doubt about it, but he had the worst statistical and least dominating year of his career but the people that vote on these things decided early he was the winner and they stuck to it. These awards are a sham. No way Meachum shouldn't be a finalist, even though if he was he wouldn't stand a chance against Johnson for the award.

We would probably more Eric Young to the left tackle to replace Arron Sears. But I am not confidant about our receivers.

By the way, I really don't want to see Foster play. He is a tackle-for-loss maker, the defense gain the confidance by tackling him.

Haha, thats what I was thinking too. Listing all our unproven receivers, two of our rbs that havent done anything, our TEs that havent done anything (outside of last week and Cottom), our line that will lose its best player hardly gets me really pumped up. If Meachem comes back I think our receivers will fall into place and surely someone will step up. But then again I thought that in '02 and it never happened.

Oh beloved Jeff (Can't spell his last name)... </SARCASM>

He's overrated... has had a great career at ND, probably the most deserving of any of the top 3, but really crapped out this year with respect to his previous years. I don't care about these awards... even the Heisman is stupid now.

Let's make a reference to my video games, k? LOL. I just finished a season on NCAA FB 07 with Rutgers, yeah, undefeated whatnot. But in the game I had a reciever, #4, with 2,500+ recieving yards and 30+ TD's. Yeah. I just killed all of my opponents with him. Anyways. He got injured with 2 games to go, didn't play in the last games. So... he wasn't even on the final list of Heisman candidates... and poopy head (Brady Quinn) won. So, that's all I have to add to this conversation. Have fun, go Vols.

Jeff doesn't have previous years. He has a previous year. Before last year, he had done absolutely nothing as a wide receiver. I'd Calvin Johnson and Meachem are in a class by themselves. Smardjadziasdfkad is hype and the other guy plays for Rice. If they weren't constantly playing from behind, he wouldn't catch that many passes.
