For those of us wondering about why Dillon hasn't committed to UT like other legacies and why he's taking so many visits, Bill's comments about recruiting were enlightening. He said he told Dillon to enjoy being recruited by so many schools, take his visits, because he will always remember this time in his life.

He said he met a lot of coaches during his own college recruitment that wound up coaching him in the NFL, so it's important to take the trips, meet the coaches/people at other schools even if you dont wind up going to school there, cause you never know....

Was anything about Dillion said?

Ainge specifically said he wasn't gonna ask Bill about Dillon and he didn't. Bill mentioned that his other boys were recruited a few years back and both played college ball ... but nothing near the scale if Dillon. Said he told Dillon to enjoy the recruiting process, take advantage of meeting different people/coaches cause you never know who might coach you in the future. Said its important to take visits even if you know that's not necessarily where you're gonna play.

Also, said really good things about Butch.
With exception of J Bay bringing up Bill getting run over by Herschel Walker it was a good interview.

i.e., female or male (preference) host "private" parties, alcohol-fueled binges, cash handshakes. yeah, those would be the times of my life as a 17-18 yo.:)

I am the last person who would have been recruited to play college football, even way back in the day when I went to college, but I would have taken all five official visits. I have been a VFL since conception and have Big Orange blood, but I still would have taken five visits, one of them, of course, to UT. I just would have wanted the experience. Had I been a five-star recruit who was offered by the all the top schools, I would have probably visited, in addition to UT, USC/UCLA, Texas, Oregon, Wisconsin, just to get a look at various campuses in different parts of the nation. Of course, I would have never set foot in tuscalooser.

Bates said what I've been saying since Butch got here. We finally have a REAL football coach again. Whether or not he wins a national title or any titles is yet to be seen, but he is definitely going to give us the best chance since Fulmer.

I hope that other contributors to this thread can refresh my memory but your statement reminded me of one of our former players. I do not recall his name but he was a home-grown offensive lineman, I believe, during the Fulmer era, one that was thoroughly committed to the Big Orange but he took his other visits, nevertheless. Whenever possible, he scheduled visits to other universities to coincide with Tennessee away games at their campuses. On one occasion, it might have even been the Alabama game, he was so vocal in his support of Tennessee that his hostess had to repeatedly "ssh" him and may, if memory serves me correctly, even left early so as not to precipitate a major altercation in the stands.

Male? We're not talking about cheer leading recruits. Even of they preferred males they'd be taking it to tr grave with em at this point in life. Plus I'd like to believe none of our boys swing that way.

Ainge's side kick is a fvckin clown. Show would be so much better if that guy would hit the road. He should spend more time trying to figure how to fill out two days a week of dead air instead of being a jock sniffer

Yeah, I especially cringe when he chimes in on interviews. He actually asked Bill Bates about getting run over by Herschel Walker approximately 30 years ago... it was difficult to listen to. Ainge needs to reel him in
