I probably am. I consider myself an independent. I've voted for Republicans and Democrats for national-level offices...but I think that I am more liberal than conservative. I will also add that my friends here in Boston would strongly disagree with my last sentence!!

Well then let me be the first to inform you that Sean Hannity is a conservative which may well be the reason you don't know where they hell he is coming from... just my thoughts :)

I'm just kidding, I know you're a smart one, that is why you are so conflicted. You only think you're a democrat b/c you feel sorry for people and you think Republicans don't care about people that are in need and/or hurting, is that correct? Republicans are not the enemy, more govt is. A vote for libs is a vote saying this "I have no idea how to manage my finances and or live my life to please govt, please take this off my hands." I don't care what issues are on the table, the less govt control the better.

I don't know.....McCain is a good candidate to me because I grock with him on issues like climate change and stem cells. Obama scares me a bit because of issues like taking money from the oil companies to give to those who "can't" pay their energy bills. I willl admit that my natural inclinations are that progressive taxation systems are better than regressive, which is the primary reason I would call myself a democrat over a republican (but, as I mentioned earlier, that is hardly enough to convince my Boston friends of my "liberal" leanings).

You're welcome in advance :birgits_giggle: Taxing... Progressive taxation = Socialism, did you know? You're worse than a democrat, you're a socialist! It's not fair to tax people at different rates based on their income.

Well....I have technically contributed to the making of a nuke or two in my lifetime...and I don't feel bad about that. But, I would feel bad if they were used, to be honest. I consider it a deterrent, and one that I wish wasn't necessary. I will continue to support our nation's efforts (and our stockpile)...because I don't want some crazy-ass nation-state with decent technology to "lord" over us. But, that doesn't mean I want us to prove our superiority, necessarily. I love this country and I will dedicate every ounce of brain I've got to it...but in that....I trust my leaders to use the fruits of my labor in the best manner possible (which I will always hope is more of a deterrent than an aggressive bomb).

Nice post, Niss....funny stuff :). I hope that national security is never truly an issue of party...because it shouldn't be..though I know that Clinton did our forces wrong. I just want Obama to spell out his stances more clearly..because right now there is no way I could support him because I have no real idea of what he stands for. It will take more than just tonight to convince me that progressive taxes are wrong...but I appreciate your effort...I am glad you are at least having the discussion with me.

Darling, the mere fact you can say "Clinton did our forces wrong" and Obama must spell out his stances more clearly, it just proves that you are indeed a republican... Night, niss. All I have to say is that all my friends in Tennessee say that I'm a liberal...yet all my friends in Boston say that I'm a conservative...go figure. That being said, I don't feel all that confused.
