I think he's good..maybe top 20. But wouldn't put him in the same league as the greats.

What he did and is doing at KSU is amazing IMO. Built that program from pretty much nothing, it fell apart when he left, and now he's back and they're 6-0.

You have to win a NC to be considered as one of the greatest of all time IMO.

When Synder took over that program they had lost more games then any other program in Division 1 in history.
They hadn't had a winning season since the 70's and had lost something like 26 games in a row, also a record.

What he did there to turn that program around was amazing.

If ever there was a coach that played a cupcake schedule it was snyder.....year after year his schedule was a joke.....he is a good coach but nothing more!

It is hard to deny Snyder the credit that he deserves for turning K-State around twice. Regardless K-State's non-conference schedule, Snyder was very successful during the 90s against Texas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma (to include knocking off OU in the 2003 (?) BigXII Championship Game). Snyder's bowl record is 6-6 which is not stellar but it is also not an argument against the competition that K-State plays every regular season (if how good K-State was was inflated by a win-loss record based upon weak scheduling, one would expect that K-State would not have been evenly matched (6-6) in their bowl games, but would have been overpowered and overwhelmed (3-9, 2-10)).

I am not sure where the spite for Snyder comes from; hell, I hate K-State yet I think Snyder deserves to be recognized as a great coach.

Because, at this point they are 6-0. Do you honestly believe that teams should be ranked according to what one thinks will happen in their upcoming games? They are ranked according to what they have proven on the field. K-State has, thus far, beaten every team on their schedule. If K-State happens to beat OU next week, would you allow them a Top 10 ranking? If this is the case, then why would you argue against them being ranked 11th (and, I will presume here that you would argue against them being ranked in the Top 15 at this point) this week?

Snyder is 8-13 against Colorado. 5-17 against Nebraska. 6-11 against Oklahoma.

K-State played Colorado 21 times between in the 19 years that Snyder has been K-State head coach? They played Nebraska 22 times in that span? and OU every year?

Snyder deserves credit for turning Kansas State around not one time, but two times. Is he the greatest ever? No, but he's been really impressive considering Kansas State's track record without him.

Snyder is a good coach and clearly the best thing to ever happen to KSU football. But don't confuse him with a guy like Bobby Bowden who built FSU by playing the most brutal schedules he could put together. Snyder started winning at KSU by following the path of least resistance. I think they qualified for a few MAC titles in the mid-90's.

Bowden took over a team that had 7 winning seasons in the previous decade. Snyder took over a team that had 20 wins in the previous decade. The situations are not analogous.
