Billy Donovan to Magic . . . and back? (merged)

If he tells that prima donna what was up, Bret would have walked out or gone shoot. Hebner had no choice.

Michaels was also a huge prima donna. Let's not forget his choice to release the Intercontinental Title due to "injuries," rather than lose it to Shane Douglas.

Good lord!? I leave the thread for 30 minutes and it's gone from Billy Donovan to the ills of the NBA to trashing Nashville to HArt vs. Michaels in Montreal.
Welcom back!:wavey:

If I were Shawn, I would have jabbed my eyes out with jagged sticks before I jobbed to Shane Douglas at that point in his career.

Agreed, but as you know, in the wrestling business, you need to do what the bookerman says. Dean Douglas was an awful awful gimmick, and in the end, ECW was perfect for Shane Douglas.

I, too, would have been opposed to dropping my title to a professor who wears a graduation robe and spanks opponents with a wooden board. That "Dean Douglas" character was horrible.

Edit: Nevermind. Hat beat me to it.

Shane Douglas should call Paul Heyman every night and thank him for rescuing his career.

Agreed. In fact, Vince McMahon should thank him at every house show, TV show, and PPV event for taking wrestling to the newest level. Heyman had a great mind, and guys like Raven, Douglas, Sabu, Dreamer, RVD, Balls Mahoney, the Eliminators, Sandman, etc, all shared the vision, it seemed. Once ECW was first picked by TNN, it went downhill.

this thread winds up in other sports forum in 3.........2.......1...........

Don't forget Public Enemy and Da Gangstas.

Ahhhh yes, Rotten!

The Dudleys, pre WWF, were amazing. They had Bubba, DVon, Spike, Big Dick Dudley, the sign Dudley, etc. They would say things so crude to the fans, it was hilarious.

Joel Gertner as the ring announcer was the key to the Dudleys in ECW.

I forgot all about Gertner. Didn't he and Styles hate each other in character?

I still remember the first ECW show I watched on TV - it was some cable channel that had nothing else, and it was 2am every week. I taped it, and it was the first show after November to Remember, the one leading up to Sabu vs. Taz, I think. King of the Hill battle royale was also on that episode.

You didn't know that? Most murders in the metro Nashville area have been tied to someone watching a Clippers-Rockets game in December.

No, that would more likely lead to suicide.

Sorry, I missed a few pages of this fun but couldn't resist on that one.
