Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency, and the Future of Global Finance

For a lot of large scaled investors, crypto is not being purchased as the new/future currency (though they don't rule it out). Crypto is a very good hedge against political uncertainty and currency devaluation. (Spare me the Dem or Republican finger pointing here -- they both do it, just in different ways). This is why Venezuela turned to crypto - -their currency is worthless. Currency is only as valuable as the faith and trust put in it. (For the gold nuts, when did you last purchase something with gold?). As faith in the political system wanes, crypto will shine. I have no idea if it will become a currency and the future, but I do know it's an excellent hedge.

I’d wouldn’t compare crypto with precious metals. PMs have the physical element and trade as a commodity that the derivatives can be correlated with. Crypto is a different animal. I can’t own crypto jewelry or industrial parts.

WTF? Gold had been in circulation until FDR. And it was the basis of the dollar until Nixon.

Why don't you ask when was the last time you purchased something with crypto?

He's not bashing gold he's saying there is value in both even if you don't use it as a currency.

Just on this page with 8 posts (at least on my computer) I see mentions of such stalwarts like "Tron", "XRP" and "Coinbase". Sounds like any Tom, Dick or Harry can create their own crytocurrency, I think I put some major dollars (you know the thing you can exchange for things like food) in it.

I may convert some of the modest profits that I mentioned above from one of my stalwarts into USD. I don't know it may wear me out clicking 3 times to get that profit in my savings account.

Nice. I just started small positions in ADA, XRP, XLM, TRX, LINK. What do you know about Celsius? I've been reading up on it. I'm intrigued

That APY looks nice. I have been exploring Defi Lending and found this Kava.io

Lending XRP at that APY is almost to good to be true!!!

Coinbase IPO on Wednesday. I've heard shares have been trading privately for over $300, so I might be priced out at the start, but we'll see.

Coinbase is a service, not a currency. The comparison doesn't make sense if you understand what's going on.

I understand that it’s flirting with a market cap of $100 billion which is easily 5x too rich. Coinbase isn’t a flower either and tulip bulbs aren’t a currency. The comparison, if you understand, is the mania that is pumping up a valuation.
