Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency, and the Future of Global Finance

As long as someth in ng is on a computer, there will be hackers that can get it. Always.

I don't think there will ever be a currency that you can't hold in your hand and trade like money...for that reason and others. An EMP device at the right location could halt all commerce for the entire world...that will never happen. Also hackers will also be able to defeat defenses. Back and forth, back and forth with the powers that be. As long as humans are the top of the food chain and not robots or ai, we will have real currency.

The banks and even some countries lawmakers would love to have a cashless society. The bankers can easily control the money supply and pull stunts like negative interest rates that forces you to spend or borrow instead of saving. Lawmakers would love it because they can control the people and it makes tax collecting much easier. Criticize the govt or do something that the govt does like? They can "turn off" your money.

Which ties into the Book of Revalation. No one will be able to buy or sell without the mark of the beast. That day is coming.

How does that tie in?

It ties in with what Ras alluded to. The banks want a cashless society. It's not hard to figure out that once that happens, then the banks will have unbelievable control and access to our lives. They will eventually be able to put restrictions on what we can and can't do with money. It will just snowball from there.

I believe it would have gotten here quicker had Hillary won the election

They already put restrictions on what we can do with our money.

What does any of this have to do with the mark of the beast?

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich

and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in

their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that

no man might buy or sell, save he that had the

mark, or the name of the beast, or the number

of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath

understanding count the number of the beast:

for it is the number of a man; and his number is

six hundred threescore and six.

(Revelation 13:16--18)

So i guess I missed the part where we have to get a mark for this cashless system that doesn't yet exist? Nobody said anything about when/where the mark comes into play.

I would say cryptocurrency takes us further away from this revelation coming to pass. Government has long had control over currency and buying and selling. Cryptocurrency means no one has control. Sure the banks can try to brand you in order to use their system (don't hold your breath) but you can still buy and sell with these other solutions.

I don't believe it's the banks that brand you. I believe it's the government.

I have no freaking clue what you guys are talking about, yes I've heard of BTC but have no earthly idea how it works. So I'll just stay with the dollar.

read The Age of Crytpocurrency by Paul Vigna and Michael Casey. it's pretty interesting stuff

Alright, I'm finally in on crypto currency. After passing up bitcoin in college at $5/coin, it was hard to convince myself to get in once it got high, but I feel like this **** is just going to keep going. I totally have this memory of thinking whether I should invest $100 or not (I was a poor college student). That'd be $380k right now, LOL.

The volatility is fun. I got in Saturday after BTC fell from its peakiest peak and I bought BTC and Etherium and both have had significant growth in just 2 days. Lots of people think BTC is going to hit $500k in the next few years. I don't expect that but I can see that. All my other investments are in index funds and real estate. I'd rather do my risk investing here, than with individual stocks, so here I go.

Disclaimer: nothing I say in this thread should be considered financial advice. I am not a financial advisor. In this case, I am a gambler who is bullish on the future of this cool tech.

McRib is in it, too. I think she started about a year ago.

I still don't understand it. So, I have no money in it. But I am rooting for those of you who do.

Just think of it as a fiat currency like the dollar in that it's not backed by anything, only confidence. How it differs is the supply is finite and unchanging (once it hits 21M coins, which it's almost there).
