Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency, and the Future of Global Finance

... That doesn't necessarily equate to a $50,000 BTC but it doesn't hurt. BTC is sitting at $667 right now, and will generally rise as time goes by because confidence will naturally build for it. I rode the wave from 5-12 in 2014, and then saw the wave come back down to 350 by the last half of 2014-2015. It's headed up imo.

Also, it's ridiculous to believe that someone will hack the blockchain. Now could they hack the account where you keep the blockchain you purchase? Yes. Although those services, like Coinbase, are growing ever more reliable because of their immense financial backers. They have made security a priority since Mt. Gox.

Cold storage? That's just a hard drive loaded with the block chain and then taken off line, yes?
What a difference 4-1/2 years makes, huh?

I've seen 249% growth in my portfolio since I started investing in November. Man, I wish I had gone all-in on Ethereum. It's up 329%. I'm going to keep putting in there despite being high right now. They are going to be the backbone of the crypto world. Bitcoin will be the biggest name in digital currency but everybody will build their businesses around the Ethereum platform.
My BITW position is now up 132% since January.

Currently:
78% Bitcoin
17% Ethereum
2% Litecoin

Finally got on Binance and was able to buy Cardano. It went from $0.83 to $1.37 while the rest of my portfolio dropped 25%. I'm gonna go hard on this one

I have been through the effing ringer with these crypto exchanges to buy ADA. God Almighty what a massive PITA. Kinda goes against the whole decentralization thing. Anyway, I am waiting on Binance verification. I bought some ADA through Uphold. I beg of everyone not to make that same mistake.

Yes. US version

It took me about 30 minutes to get cleared on binance.us. And that was for the whole she-bang. But it was 30 minutes of constant this-and-that and a bunch of sh*t I never previously had to do for any bank or brokerage.

There was a guy in our neighborhood that got a very ****** Compaq Presario from some outfit for a reduced price. I wish I could remember what program it was. Anyways as long as it was hooked up to the Internet it showed ads. I think he had to watch X amount of ads and the computer would eventually be free. That was almost 25 years ago but it’s good to see that what was once old is new.

Does anyone here own Ripple? i wanted to get some but now that Coinbase has temporarily suspended it not sure where I can

I am pretty ignorant about the cryptocurrency stuff, but if it is indeed the the future of global finance that would seem to indicate that actual cash would become a thing of the past. Paid in it. Spend it save it, etc. But who actually controls it? Does anyone know the identity of the origin of bitcoin that really identifies a person or entity? If not then how does one know who you are actually trusting that it is not actually centralized? Seems it would be easy enough for the creator to actually control enormous amounts of global wealth and at some point possibly and limit access to a relatively small number of people. There is a prophecy about no one being able to buy or sell without a certain mark . Seems feasable that this could be the beginnings of a system that controls who has access to any kind of wealth and how they use it.Seems I read china is already like 60% cashless already. Don' t mean to throw a wet blanket on things...just the ramblings of a crazy old man.

I own 1000 XRP coins and intend to buy more.

If you want to buy now just set up an uphold account, get verified and add a bank account and your good to go, buy all the XRP you want.

Here is the link.

I hate having all these different accounts to keep up with. I mean I have a binance account but I'm still waiting to get verified so I can deposit funds.
