What's the point of giving money to candidates when they don't know where it's coming from? He's lying bc his ass is about to be in a sling and he needs as much cover as he can get

Because right now he's a scam artist who supported Dems. And the GOP is about to take control of the house which could mean investigations out the ass. He will be hung publicly. But it's harder for the GOP to do that if he can sell the "I donated to both equally." Problem is he hasn't provided any receipts he donated to anywhere near the level.

Yeah, I'd say it's a million to one longshot that bluffing he gave to Republicans would get him anywhere in that regard, so not sure why he'd do it for that reason. People who took money from him should not be scared of him if they did nothing wrong. People who did not take money from him should not be scared of him at all.

You guys completely dismiss it because you can and don't like the implications. I quote him, because as of right now, it's part of story as far as we know, recognizing fully well that it might not be true.

You're the one that's doing it wrong. In 3 months, if I find out he lied, I can say "turns out he lied" with no difficulty because i didn't plant my flag in the ground on it. You will be slinking out of this thread if it's the other way

What a convenient thing for you to take the perceived neutral stance that can never be refuted because the claim is that the contributions were super double secret off the book untraceable dark payments. You know it is untrue, but you can safely say "Gee, I guess we'll never know 🤷. The pathological liar who perpetrated the biggest financial fraud since Enron said this unprovable thing, so the water will just always be murky."

To recap, you are acting like a condescending prick because I am saying they bought Republicans because I think SBF could be telling the truth AND ALSO we know because of actual facts that FTX did buy Republicans for at least $17m...so I'm already right.

Also, you act like it's cheating to discuss without taking a firm position but I'm trying to tell you that's the responsible way to engage when we need more facts. Your partisan desires will not allow you to do this.

Pretend it is Trump, a pathological liar, being caught running a ponzi scheme and donating tens of millions to Republicans. You gonna say "let's wait and see" when he starts frantically trying to include democrats in the conversation? Even if the claim is that the donations were off the book? So that there probably won't ever be evidence?

And are you gonna rush to grab that quote and interject it into a discussion here when somebody says "The Republicans are all in this scam!"?

What I certainly wouldn't be doing is acting like there is no way Trump could be telling the truth, and that the people saying it's possible are idiots. Trump is the worst example you could have thought of. Nothing is out of the realm of possibility with Trump. I mean, he was probably giving to D's 5 years ago without a scheme. Why wouldn't I find a scheme like this credible? Why would I feel compelled to defend D's against it at all? They suck just as bad as the R's. Now you say it.

That's the pattern. You don't ever "defend" democrats, but you tend to either remain silent, give more benefit of the doubt, or attempt to distribute blame when democrats are involved. And then you act like we're crazy for noticing. Or maybe you actually believe we're crazy because you don't know you're doing it.

And why would I say they both suck equally? I think democrats are presently a much more destructive force in our society than Republicans. Republicans suck, but less so than Democrats. I'm squaring my belief in that claim with the way I post in this forum. You have not ever attempted to square your stated belief that they "suck equally" with the way you post.

If he lives, they are gonna put this loser under the damn prison. Wire fraud, conspiracy to, securities fraud, also w/conspiracy to, and money laundering. From what i have read there is still over a billion $ missing likely many milions buried and hidden in offshore or swiss accounts....they will throw the book at him for that alone. To add insult to injury, this dbag already cost BOTH of his parents their high profile professor jobs at Stanford IIRC...

Makes you wonder how much influence his parents had on him - and same with some of the others - specifically Caroline Ellison. Seems like they had very capable parents and were prodigies in their own right - capable but without guiding principles - pure predators out for personal gain. The kind who absolutely know how to achieve but with no understanding of responsibility of guiding ethics. Kids who were perhaps taught far better than most how to get ahead but with little moral guidance - something you might expect in arrogant academics - knowledge without boundaries.
