Then why even start the thread? You also said "let the blasting begin", so you knew most of the responses would be negative. You just wanting attention or something?
You're on a roll, how about starting a "What if Fulmer were still here" thread?
My beef with what Coleman was griping about was that Kiffin didn't name Crompton the starter. IIRC he said that JC and BJ would have to compete for the starting job in the fall. I was at the Orange and White game that year and both of them looked about the same so when Kiffin came out with that, I wasn't surprised.
I didn't care for Coleman's whining exit interview in the paper.
If you dont like the backlash, then dont post the thread......
This kills me. Good heavens it's the bye week. We have very little to talk about. If the man wants to start a "what if" thread who cares. It's a forum. The purpose of a forum is for discussion.
I'm from Chatt and I've wondered the same thing about Coleman. If you don't like the thread don't open it or comment on it.
Good thread man screw them.

Let me first start by saying that I'm EXTREMELY glad we have Bray, and would much rather have him than any other QB at this point in the SEC. That said, I can't help but wonder what BJ Coleman would have been able to do had he not left UT.
I was reading an article today in the Chattanooga Times-Free Press about how strong UTC has come along (I'm a Moc, c/o '03 and '05 for grad school), so when I came to Chattanooga for college in 1999, I already knew how bad we were at football, and all I wanted was for us to have a decent team while I was a student there. Needless to say, that crapped out--badly. Rodney Allison came on as the HC after my freshman year, and was around WAY too long. I feel now that we have the right Coach in Russ Huesman, and a very solid team. UTC is now ranked 13th (or 14th, depeding on the polls) in the FCS polls, and has beaten 10th ranked Jacksonville St. (as a 23 ranked team), and plays at #3 Appalachian State this weekend, with BJ Coleman at the helm.
Through 25 games at UTC, Coleman has passed for 6,091 yards and 47 TDs. He is currently 4th on the all-time passing record at UTC and only needs 1,139 yards to break that record into first place, and 3 TDs to become all-time TD pass record holder.
Again, I'm VERY pleased that we have Bray and would NOT trade Bray for Coleman, but part of me wonders--if Bray never came to UT and we were stuck with Coleman, would he have been able to develop into what he is now? Granted he's playing at a lesser level, but I still gotta wonder... :whistling:
Let the blasting begin.

Was disgraceful that we were at a point that people like BJ Coleman thought he had the talent to be a QB at our fine university.
LOL Yeah, I tried to qualify what you're saying by pointing out that I realize he's in a lesser division with lesser talent. But at least thanks for seeing where I was trying to head with this. It obviously crashed and burned...
you know what would have happened? Coleman would still be sitting the bench in Knoxville and people in Chattanooga would be asking every day why he wasn't getting a fair shot.
Oh and we would have also lost the 2008 Vandy game if Coleman fans had their way
If he stays, Bray was redshirted last year, and is learning the system this year.
And the Vols would be just as fine as we are today.
Except, that's not what would have happened at all.
Quit with all your hypotheticals!
I'm not sure how to take this. I'm sure you meant it another way, but given Coleman's about to get drafted by the NFL, it gives it a completely different meaning than you probably intended.
