BJ Coleman

Let me first start by saying that I'm EXTREMELY glad we have Bray, and would much rather have him than any other QB at this point in the SEC. That said, I can't help but wonder what BJ Coleman would have been able to do had he not left UT.

I was reading an article today in the Chattanooga Times-Free Press about how strong UTC has come along (I'm a Moc, c/o '03 and '05 for grad school), so when I came to Chattanooga for college in 1999, I already knew how bad we were at football, and all I wanted was for us to have a decent team while I was a student there. Needless to say, that crapped out--badly. Rodney Allison came on as the HC after my freshman year, and was around WAY too long. I feel now that we have the right Coach in Russ Huesman, and a very solid team. UTC is now ranked 13th (or 14th, depeding on the polls) in the FCS polls, and has beaten 10th ranked Jacksonville St. (as a 23 ranked team), and plays at #3 Appalachian State this weekend, with BJ Coleman at the helm.

Through 25 games at UTC, Coleman has passed for 6,091 yards and 47 TDs. He is currently 4th on the all-time passing record at UTC and only needs 1,139 yards to break that record into first place, and 3 TDs to become all-time TD pass record holder.

Again, I'm VERY pleased that we have Bray and would NOT trade Bray for Coleman, but part of me wonders--if Bray never came to UT and we were stuck with Coleman, would he have been able to develop into what he is now? Granted he's playing at a lesser level, but I still gotta wonder... :whistling:

Let the blasting begin. :)

and the Times also talked about how Coleman and that guy from Appy ST. is being look at big time by the pros and both will be drafted in the NFL.

If Coleman was still at UT, he would be the nations best back-up QB. JMO.

No. We would have the nations most amazing battle for back-up QB week in and week out.

We would have the best back up, and the best 3rd string QB that any college team has ever seen.

Right. A guy who couldn't beat out Nick Stephens or a future first round pick. I'm sure there would be a real controversy.

I think he's suggesting that Coleman would be battling Simms to even BE the backup, instead of automatically being "the best backup." Could be wrong though

There's still discussion on this guy?

It's pretty confusing, especially when quarterback may be the only position we don't have questions about right now.

I understand people are free to wonder, and they're right about us having the right to ignore the topic if we don't think it's worth discussing. Still, it seems pretty clear to me who is the better player. I really don't see an argument for Coleman other than the fact that he's older. Bray has been better from the start.

And then we'd be hearing from Chattanooga about how coincidentally enough, three coaches in a row "didn't give him a fair shot."

Turned more into a shower scene between two fail tourney deep winners. Each giving the other the kiss of death with their respective approval. High, high comedy.

With some seeding stances being strengthened for next year as well.

To be honest, a discussion about Tajh Boyd would make much more sense.

that little fantasy ends today. It has already ended for anyone that has watched him play. They beat Auburn and his stats were decent, but he's throwing the ball to areas and it worked because Auburn really can't play any defense whatsoever. Auburn's D might actually be worse than the crap Boleman plays against weekly.

Tough game for the Mocs. No offensive points for Appy St - one was on a fumble return and the other a Coleman INT for a TD.

BJ's a good QB, but he's not anywhere near as talented as Bray.

lol

this robinson guy from south pitt is a better fit at qb for this team. before he left the game coleman did not look sharp at all.

for those who didn't see coleman went out with a shoulder injury in the first half. robinson went ham on the #1 gsu defense and utc lost 28-27 after failing on a 2-point conversion at the end of the game. he's a run first qb but had some pretty good throws too.

Hope Coleman's OK. Sounds like Robinson settled in nicely. I'll have to watch the replay.

His 2nd half performance (well, really the whole team's) last week was uninspiring.

Real gutsy call there at the end. The way Robinson was running it inside the five probably made huesman's mind up. Unfortunatly he went with a pass instead. Wish he would have gotten the PAT to tie the game, and let the defense either make a play for you or get you to OT. Mocs are improving. I think they finally found a coach.
