i completely get your point, it was meant to be a good thing. now its turned into a complete joke. people my age have nothing really to complain about. is there still racism in America? sure there is but its on both sides and its a small amount of people on both sides(for the most part). however the left still uses it as a crutch to get black votes plain and simple. think about it, if it was still such a major issue would Obama have been elected? doubtful.
Such a contradiction here.
On the one hand, the right argues that black voters are exploited by the Democrats "pretending" to protect the interests of the black community.
On the other hand, the right immediately portrays anything negative about blacks (see e.g. Acorn) as tied to Democrats because why? Because Democrats support those programs.
You can't have it both ways.
did u even read my post? I was talking about all the naacp, etc.. regardless these programs were started off as good things, but seem to have become a joke. if
didn't know ACORN was only for a certain race.
Fox and Limbaugh and Breitbart absolutely have claimed ACORN is purely for black people, is supported by Democrats, and is corrupt and abused.
I've never heard Fox say ACORn was purely for black people. As for Limbaugh, I don't listen to him, so I honestly have no idea. Now it is supported by democrats, and its sure as hell corrupt and abused. not sure how you say it isn't.
And then they utterly contradict themselves by saying that blacks are being tricked into thinking that Democrats favor programs benefiting the black community.
how are these programs actually benefiting minority communities?
My point is that it makes no sense to on the one hand deny that the Democratic party is far more inclined than Republicans to support the black community, and then on the other hand to claim that no they don't.
Is the light starting to come on? I really, really hope so..Black caucus: Tired of making excuses for Obama | Campaign 2012

Not a contradiction at all. Depends on what you define as "support". Many (including West) would argue that it is a plantation mentality and the programs are designed to keep the black community dependent on the government with perceived "give aways". By continually claiming to support these programs they keep the community on the plantation.
A perspective that Dems are using the black community is not on it's face contradictory. That perspective may not be always accurate but it is not contradictory.
And yet the BC will continue to support him blindly. Actions speak louder than words.
He may have their vote, but they still have to turn out like they did in 2008

I agree that turnout is a huge problem because the enthusiasm factor is very low right now, across the board. Its actually something I think the GOP has to worry about, too, if Romney is the nominee, as I expect him to be. No wow factor.
Indeed, if Perry is the nominee I think that will put quite a charge into the Democratic base and improve their turnout.
Voter turnout in the 18-30 age range and black demographics will determine the next election. If Obama can't energize these groups, he will likely get overrun. This of course depends very heavily on who the GOP nominee is (I think that's what you were alluding to above).

It's great to see some "old school" southern values alive and well.
Not.
The Black Caucus is a progressive caucus, one of the bravest and most moral in the US Congress.
Dear Sir or Madam:
First, let me say that any organization that excludes itself to a certain racial or ethnic group is by definition a racist organization
In like manner, the term "progressive" is nothing more than a pathetic spin replacement attempt to softhen the real personality of the movement toward Socialism/Communism. There is nothing "progressive" about the octopus of big government. Progressives/Socialists have destroyed our economy with their; horrendously wasteful social spending, promotion of pesonal dependency on the government, belief that no on is capable of taking care of themselves, suppressive business regulations and punitive litigation to detroy small business in this country. Progressives and their pitiful minions who think government should care for their every desire from the womb to the tomb have stranguled our the economy to the point that the manufacturing capability of this nation has almost completely left our borders. Those who fancy themselves as "progressives" should quit hiding behind such a falacious term and call themselves what they really are; "Neo-Maoist".
Government can't be responsible for everything that goes wrong in anyone's life. It is not the governments duty or proper place to take care of you or me if we choose to not get an education or to have 42 illegitimate children or to snort so much crack up our nose that we are unable to look for work.
Individualism and capitalism made this country great and any effort to reverse those philosophies is purely self-destructive. Socialism has proven throughout history to be an unworkable and destructive form of government.
