Not a School Color and should never be black Jerseys. Orange or White but never Black

Do not expect anything to come of it. Pearl is against it and Hamilton is not fond of the idea. It was introduced by Addias who by the way can't even get the orange color right
Thank you VOL67. I was becoming VERY concerned. The Orange and black thing makes me think immediately of peanut butter candy!!
Have I become so old school that I'm alone out here? Does ORANGE, WHITE and dark COLUMBIA BLUE not stir ya'lls soul and give you butterflies. Those are our colors. Throw in some college grey if you like, but that's it. I don't buy the whole outlining the numbers thing either...an outline of columbia blue works just fine. I hate to thing about the responses that I'll get about girl colors. Maybe time has passed me by. The blue sky and orange daisy's covering the picnic and study hill overlooking the campus has stirred the fall leaves in alot of real mens bellys (The General) before me. Thanx freakin' Delmonico and sell-out Phil.

light blue is used for girl sports now. Black looks good with orange as an accent color. I dont want black as a main color. I'm not even asking for their to be a black jersey that the bball team wears all the time.

The basketball team will probably get a different style jersey for this upcoming season. I'm just messing around with designs and threw a black version because of the thread.

Still, Our colors have never changed...it was a Delmonico gimic uni that cracked the door open for the others to outline....our colors are and always have been Orange, Columbia blue and white...Grey is universal old-school. Classiest color scheme in college.

When did "Columbia Blue" become a school color?

UTSports.com says orange and white are the school colors. No mention of "Columbia Blue." So, I would like to see those denouncing Delmonico and Fulmer attack Pat Summit, since her charges are obviously wearing uniforms that violate the sacrosanct traditions many on this board seem to hold so dear.

Technically speaking, white and orange are not colors. Therefore, from a purist's standpoint, our school color is orange. Therefore, adding white or black to the uniforms should always be acceptable. Adding columbia blue on the other hand...

I remember wearing "columbia blue" on football jerseys during the Cobb-Webb era, too.

That was in '87. It was stupid then, it would be stupid now. Black portrays a sense of bada$$. "Columbia Blue" screams "I'm a wuss, please kick my a$$ and take my lunch money."

i like hte football uni's the way the are now....i like the black out line on the white jerseys...i don't think adding black to the home uni's would look good.

but for bball, govolsxtra has a picture of what one of hte proposed alternate black unis would look like...and it was pretty cool. for bball, i'm all for it....football...leave it the way it is.

IMO I think a intresting 3rd trim color would be medium grey, it would contrast well with the orange. Black statisticall draw more penalties does'nt it...ala raiders?

can you post the proposed black uni from govolsxtra?

They look kind of like the ones above. There's a checkerboard down the sides of the jersey and shorts.

Hate to say it but I kinda like them. We could pair them w/ CBP and the orange blazer.

they look sharp

i'd change the Tennessee on the front to say "Vols" in cursive. like the baseball unis.

i think they used that on the 1950s basketball unis. I saw them when they did the voting for SEC throwback week on utsports.com

Forget Old school

It's time to get modern and eclectic

Let's get like the Nike Elite schools that have home/away & alternate jerseys, along with throwbacks and a wild grey colorway to wear in preseason tournaments and early non-conference games. It's a shame that louisville pushes the envelope more than ut when it comes to adidas apparell

Come on, we have a dramatic change in a coach that will get his media attention no matter what. Why not have a uniform that demands your attention as well? Let's evolve with the people that are running the program. If we do become a powerhouse basketball school (which i think we will) why not have the new unique apparell to further get money for the university. Because it's all about money. And with us exploding into national recognition, it's only logical to assume that the demand for merchandise will increase, therefore attract trend hopping adolescents and teens with fresh good looking jerseys.

Also....just think about it... how much money do you think notre dame makes off the sale of it's green jerseys?

Notre Dame could make money selling green flamingos.

But I'm with ya!!

i think "Vols" in cursive would be a little more exciting than just "Tennessee" in basic font.

But I agree with what you're saying, hoping you're not being sarcastic. UT basketball is a sport where we could get dramatic with the uniforms.

Football on the other hand doesnt need a change.

I love the new jerseys. Were those actually proposed by Adidas or did someone just come up with them? And is there a chance it could go through???
