Black Uniforms for Ohio St. Game?

In last night's basketball game, Miami wore their "black" unis. Like Tennessee's colors, Miami's colors--orange (Pantone 1665) and green (Pantone 3435)--are iconic.

Last night, in their black, Miami looked GENERIC and UNDISTINGUISHED. They coulda been any team. They coulda been the Washington Generals!

It's overdone and done. Wearing black uniforms today is like a teenager wanting to distinguish himself from the crowd by getting a tattoo. Right.

NO !!

This is UT on a national stage. We're an historic brand, not some bullschiit Pac 12 or Mountain West school. We represent in the classic orange and white, be it road white jerseys and orange britches or the Stormtroopers, but it has to be the classic UT colors.

Actually, the front office just announced that the Bucks will be wearing an all-scarlet uniform for the game. I personally don't care what they wear and never got into the special uniform bit. I am fine with the traditional offerings.

I think competing teams wearing all-black and one all-red would be to hard to decipher for the players, especially anyone with color-vision issues, which are not uncommon. The reason teams wear uniforms with colors that heavily contrast each other is the same reason they hoisted large batte flags on the field during the civil war - you don't want to accidentally start lobbing shells at your own guys in the heat of the moment. You need to be able to quickly identify who is who and who is where when everyone is scattered all over the place running in different directions.

I don't care if we wear shorts and wife beaters as long as we are allowed to play...I want this one bad...I've always not like OSU ...because they are like lil God's and never play anybody...other than that, never watch them @ all...I keep up with the big boy conference...lol...@ ...ooooops

LOL, you think it's "not uncommon" for college-aged athletes to have trouble deciphering between all red and all black uniforms?

Forget the color. We need to wear the solid jerseys without ventilation holes. The nice long underwear that is very smooth and thin. Heated socks. Look into what a winter biker would wear. It needs to be light and warm and will not get waterlogged when wet. I hope we are spending some time going over this equipment.

Long timer here (100% Storm Trooper), have always loved this clean look. Plus the history of winning big games in this uni outweighs other options as my memory serves (ie ‘95 Bama, ‘97 Bama, ‘98 UGA, ‘01 Florida , ‘03 Miami).
We have played and won some of our most meaningful contests wearing the sleek storm trooper look. Love it !

That's what I confidently opined last June when the baseball team went to Omaha. Surely, if we made it to the championship game, the UTAD would surely insist on our true colors for such important media exposure and the years of photographs of the historic moment that would follow. Surely.

Well...

I would tell you to "learn from my mistakes" -- but who has that much time?

You mean like UGA this year, Bama last year? Oh wait. Storm troopers are no better than any other uni combos.
