Call BS all you want, but you clearly have never played or watched basketball. In high school and NCAA, the home team must wear the lightest color. In the NBA, with agreement from the opponent previously, the home team can wear the dark color, and the visiting can wear light.
Similar to the situation with UCLA vs USC in football this season where both teams wore dark colors and were fined and lost a timeout.
Where does it say the home team can't wear a dark color if the away team wears their home jerseys?
The uniforms even have similarities to the NBA. In college basketball, it is required by rule that the home team wears their white or light-colored jerseys while the visiting team wears their darker jersey color. The NBA, like other professional sports leagues, lets the home team decide which uniform to wear, but with a few exceptions the home team has continued the tradition of the college game and wears white (or in the case of the Los Angeles Lakers for non-Sunday home games, gold) at home.
