Blackberry Farm:

I just wanted to try the beer. But without a reservation, I got the ol' escort out. They were really nice about my misconception of what the place was and handed me a guide to their facilities, which earned a hearty laugh from me. Most of the activities offered were outrageously expensive.

The beer is amazing. Had it a few times before the winter warmer and enbf. Brewers are really nice. They usually show up at the city house mystery dinner. Do yourself a favor and make the trip up for that

The drinks are pretty expensive - if u are going to be drinking a lot - might want to consider bringing some alcohol with you to stock in your room.

Where are you catching the Musky? French Broad? Sounds like fun, no idea how to catch them though.

I miss fishing the french broad. I actually drove up from Georgia last year with a friend and met my dad and his buddy and fished for white bass.

Nobody is going to Blackberry for the fly fishing.

If I went there I would take my Tenkara rod and my GF would be furious by the end of day one because I missed out on watching cheese age or something.

Granted though that place is not aimed at people like me at all. Too poorly-heeled and too damn unsophisticated :D

coupla places on nolichuckey, and the upper french broad in Rosman, browns and smallies in HS.

Musky sounds kind of fun. I am afraid I don't the gear for it though. I know they would destroy a Tenkara rod and my heaviest fly rod is a 6wt.

the flies mimic large salmon flies. I think an 8 wt would suffice

We went last year for a few days. The cabin we stayed at was called the Barn Owl. You have an endless supply of firewood on the front porch. The tile in the bathroom floors are heated.

The service is world class. When I asked for Dr Pepper for lunch, they told me they were out on this side of the farm. When I got back to my room I had six chilling in the fridge. I was like wtf? How did they even know me or which cabin I was in. Registration was in my wifes name. I was impressed.

For dinner we were chauffeured to a very nice renovated barn for dinner. I believe they said it was taken apart in Vermont or somewhere in New England, and reconstructed on the farm. All being said is I'm glad her company paid for it. Very expensive, but world class accommodations usually are.
