How do you know that Wright won't be ready? It isn't always about being ready, but how high you are projected. Since his JR year of HS, he's been labeled a lottery pick. I still wouldn't like those 3 because we could potentially lose 8 players after that year.
Brendan Wright will not be a lottery pick after the '06-'07 season. I can think of 14 guys who will go ahead of him without even accounting for the Euros.

Who would they be? Every board I've seen has had him 2nd. I don't see why his stock would go down. He's a long, athletic 4 that is a perfect weakside defender. He has a good stroke as well.

Just at his position, Oden, Hansbrough, and McRoberts. That's off the top of my head. Darrel Arthur and some other guys in his class are probably also more NBA ready. The rule making a guy play a year in college is going to result in a bunch of guys getting exposed as frauds. Wright isn't a fraud, but he'll be shown as being far from NBA ready.

I figured Oden. He's the one guy that is projected higher for sure. I think McRoberts won't look as good this year. He benefitted greatly from playing alongside Chewie and having Redick as well. When teams are doubling 2 of the players on the court, someone should be open. He will get more of the focus and won't look near as good. All I saw from him this year was weakside blocks and backdoor dunks which resulted from the focus on Williams and Redick. I also think Hans might look a notch down. This will benefit Wright greatly. Teams will overload on Tyler and Wright will be open for the flush or block. Arthur may be more NBA ready, but he has to show it. He isn't the most consistent player in the nation, that is why he isn't a top 5 player like Wright. Brandan will gain some weight at UNC and will look like a beast alongside TH.

Oden isn't at the same position as Wright anyways. Wright is a PF and Oden is C. Hans and McRoberts are more PF than Oden, but are more C than Wright.

Macklin, Hawes, and Caracter are also more NBA ready. Given the dearth of true centers, I consider 4s and 5s interchangable these days in the NBA.

That may be true. I just don't understand why all these scouts would project him as a lottery pick with all of these "more NBA ready" players available.

There's a big difference between the guys who run these draft webstes and recruiting services and real NBA scouts. The first group are in the business of selling subscriptions. The latter are paid to evaluate players. If you listen to the draftniks and service guys, there are about 50 guys every year who are "potential lottery picks."

Yeah, but most sites that I've seen the mock drafts on weren't subscription sites and most every one of them had the same top 5-8. Either way, not every team drafts based on the most NBA ready player. Alot will pick a player with more potential and upside over one that is more NBA ready. Everyone seems to think that Joakim Noah would be a for-sure top 3 pick, but he's definitely not bigger than Brandan.

He's dominated against college competition. Let's see what Wright does next year. Noah has proven himself, Wright hasn't. The now mandatory year of college is going to be a huge help for the NBA teams in evaluating players.

Yep, Noah, McRoberts, and Hans all dominated for 1 year. Lets see if they can repeat since they all are coming back. Wright may do better than all. He may look like Hendrix from Bama did this year. We will see.

I, for one, can appreciate this rule. There are too many HS kids that get let down on draft day or come in not ready for the NBA. As far as Wright is concerned, hopefully the hype doesn't get to him.
